SCBills Posted October 19 Posted October 19 (edited) It seems both sides have positives they’re taking away from early voting. Dems are showing up as they always do, so any worry of low enthusiasm (at least in early voting) has been dampened. R’s have stepped up their early vote game to, at least, not be in huge deficits as we get closer to election week. In Georgia, the early vote turnout in Trump areas is up as well. In PA, Dems are trying to get to a 400k-500k absentee ballot firewall, and are off to a good start, but R’s are outpacing them in registrations in recent weeks and the absentee ballot return rate disparity has started to dip in the past few days. We’ll see what happens Monday when the last large batch of absentee ballots before the election come in. Edited October 19 by SCBills 2

K D Posted October 19 Posted October 19 If Republicans win president, house, Senate I would like to see them change voting to 1 day with ID and paper ballots and make it a national holiday so everyone can vote IN PERSON. The Dems only chances in this election are early and mail in voting with no ID. Think about that It's in both side's best interest to have the most locked down voting in the world so neither side can accuse the other of cheating. If Trump is so bad or someone like him then why would you give him an opportunity to cheat? 2 2 1

RiotAct Posted October 19 Posted October 19 I really think whoever wins Pennsylvania is going to win the election. SPOILER ALERT: it’ll be Kamala. 4

SCBills Posted October 19 Posted October 19 NC R’s just overtook Dems in EV. I agree with the above that PA is likely the entire game, but this election is so bizarre. A non-insignificant number of Chamber of Commerce type R’s voting for Harris. Canceled out by RFK/Tulsi Dems voting for Trump. Independents, we’ll see how they break. Mayor of a Muslim majority city in Michigan endorses Trump. Georgia early vote turnout is bonkers high in both red & blue areas. 1 1

I agree with this and also caution against reading early vote numbers as being indicative of outcomes for either side. It’s just not very predictive. 1

We just need to count a couple hundred million votes annually. It shouldn’t be this hard. There’s unfortunately an interest in making it hard to count all of the votes on Election Day. State laws vary on how to handle mail-in ballots but they generally fall into a handful of categories: 1. Ballots are processed and counted ahead of Election Day but results are not released until Election Day 2. Ballots are processed before Election Day but counting of the ballots begins on Election Day 3. Processing cannot begin until Election Day and counting begins on Election Day 4. Processing cannot begin until Election Day. Counting cannot begin until polls close on Election Day States using methods 1 or 2 are more likely to count enough votes to determine a winner on Election Day. States using methods 3 or 4 may take into the middle of the night or even several days to determine a winner if there are a lot of mail-in votes or the race is close. Easy solution would be for states like PA to change their process from method 3 to method 1 or 2 Edited October 19 by ChiGoose 1 1
