Hamlin does not make mistakes or take bad angles. he plays smart. and that matters.

He absolutely takes bad angles. And we have no idea about edwards because he literally hasnt played

he lacks speed but he takes good angles. he just can't close the gaps fast enough.

you think they are trying to avoid cap hit incentives ?

Contract Notes: 1 yr @ $2.8 mil

$1.6M guaranteed ($1.0 mil signing bonus + $600,000 of salary)

Per Game Active Bonus: $30,000 ($510,000)

Playing Time Incentives
(non-cumulative)
58%: $250,000
70%: $550,000
80%: $725,000

Interceptions Incentives
(non-cumulative)
2: $200,000
3: $350,000
4: $475,000

This plus Sean's bias toward Hamlin due to what he overcame

I think he’s not starting because he didn’t earn the starting role.

It’s also not fair to say that Bills fans were “very excited” about the Edwards signing. Many fans were disappointed with the signing and weren’t very impressed with his play for KC.

I have to laugh at the dude in that tweet in the first post. He said it himself - He has absolutely no idea why Edwards isn’t starting. Yet he’s certain he should be. 🤷‍♂️🤦‍♂️😂

Doesn't that by definition mean he takes bad angles?  Seems to me that what may be a good angle for a player with good speed, is a bad angle for a player with no speed.

I agree with what I saw posted on Twitter.

He was signed in the same wave of free agency as other "afterthoughts" like Casey Toohill and DeShawn Williams. He wasn't given a ton of money.

He then proceeded to miss just about all of camp and the preseason with injury, which surely set him back in terms of fighting for a starting role.

Fast forward to now, and I think his biggest obstacle to being gameday active is Cam Lewis. Lewis can (and does) also play nickel corner, and I think his versatility advantage over Edwards gets him onto the field.

Edwards has always been a replacement level player, and the only thing "off" in this scenario was Bills fans' expectations for him.

As for why he hasn't overtaken Hamlin or Rapp, maybe he's simply not playing as well as them in practice? Maybe he hasn't earned it?

i can see how yes, it would be definition mean that he takes bad angles in respect to intercepting the path of the ball carrier once the catch is made (which he does struggle with) but i attribute that to lack of speed to even get there.

i was speaking without respect to the speed factor - his angle to get to the ball carrier when running or making the catch is generally on point. however, he is flimsy and can be taken out of the play with just a gentle breeze.

So the moral of the story is we basically wasted 2.8M on Edwards and 8M on Samuel.  All that money could've been used on a pass rusher.

Seems that way, yep.

Pass rusher would have been a fine choice.

It would have also been great to combine those two salaries and put it towards a more viable safety like Kamren Curl.

Hindsight is 20/20, but obviously Edwards and Samuel (particularly Samuel) both look like huge misses right now.

2.5M on Collins,  2.5M on MVS.  They could have packaged all this cash and paid Davis.  He had a good connection with Josh.

Every year we pull this stunt where we sign a fa to decent cap money, only to not use them (insert whatever reason). This is 3 years in a row and getting ridiculous. Figure it out McB?

Is there another Hamlin on the team that fits this because this doesn’t describe Damar at all.

Didn’t they give MVS gtd $ that was wasted too?

To be fair to Samuel he has been injured and was trying to play through it. The team having nobody else that can play so he could recover was the problem.

Yes, we also wasted money on MVS and even a little injury buyout money to Claypool. We're just struggling to hit on alot of these mid tier guys. Hopefully Cooper makes us forget all this...until his extension comes up?

Trade him already.

For what?

He has no trade value and is fine right where he is.
