Virgil Posted October 18 Posted October 18 I think he could see 15-20 on the open market, and I don't think he's worth that for us. He is not a game wrecker on his own, as he needs the whole line to be healthy to make an impact. He disappears for games at a time, which can't happen for 20 mil plus per season. 1 Quote
BarleyNY Posted October 18 Posted October 18 2 hours ago, Coach Tuesday said: It can’t be done already they exercised next year’s option. With Edmunds they declined it. Edmunds played here on his 5th year option before becoming a FA. Yes, Rousseau’s option has been picked up for 2025, but he and the Bills can negotiate a new deal at any time. Next offseason makes sense to come to a long term deal if it’s going to happen, but I think there’s too much money on the table in FA for him so I expect him to play it out. That’s what happened with Edmunds. Quote
BillsFanForever19 Posted October 18 Posted October 18 Oh thank god. I thought this was another "we should trade (this player) - what do you think their worth?" thread. Quote
peterpan Posted October 18 Posted October 18 No more paying average players lots of money. There are value signings that can be had- good players for less money. Rapp and Daquan Jones cap numbers are both $2.8 million for this season and were brought in as free agents. R Douglas cap number is 3.3 mil, he was a trade. That’s a total of 9 million for 3 good starters brought in from other teams (not our draft picks). Ed Oliver is 9.7 mill. (4th highest on the team). That’s More than those 3 combined!!!! Save the cap space for the true superstars. Total difference makers. 2 2 Quote
Magox Posted October 18 Posted October 18 He's going to be $20M + Most likely 4 year $90 M with about a little more than half of that guaranteed. 2 Quote
TFBillsfan Posted October 18 Posted October 18 For all the resources and money put into the DL, we still lack a consistent disruptor. Sure it bubbles up from time to time, but all too often it’s missing in action. I can’t recall very many games where our DL has dominated an opponent’s OL. Groot has been solid but needs to elevate his game more. I don’t know if some of it is defensive scheme with our DL, as we typically bull rush with minimal stunts. Quote
Einstein Posted October 18 Posted October 18 I don’t envy the hard decision Beane has to make of whether to keep Rousseou or let him go. You could make a convincing argument for either direction. Quote

If he’s Super Bowl MVP, that might change some minds. 1 Quote

So interesting because Cooper could be asking for something very similar. And Josh needs to get (re)done at some point. Douglas has to get done, Benford will as well. As of today I am leaning they will let Groot play out his five years and we'll restock. Quote
jamiezzz Posted October 18 Posted October 18 No Thanks. Love him, but not worth it if we're talking close to top dollar. The way McSquirmett plays his defense, too much rotation to pay top dollar. 2 Quote

I’m so on the fence I really don’t think we should be paying this guy upwards of 15-20 million a year. I just don’t think he’s that guy. I know we don’t have anyone else but do we want to be stuck in a contract like that for him? What are you guys thinking he is going to command and should we let him walk. Let him walk. he’s an average player at this point, and very inconsistent. i hope the Bills don’t overpay again. 2 hours ago, Magox said: He's going to be $20M + Most likely 4 year $90 M with about a little more than half of that guaranteed. Don’t let him walk away, let him run away, while holding a flame thrower to his A$$. 2 Quote
Coach Tuesday Posted October 19 Posted October 19 I am interested to see how the season plays out. Admittedly I expected more from him this year than what we’ve seen so far, but I don’t think the full story is written yet. Quote

McDeerInTheHeadlights Posted October 19 Posted October 19 I see him as a supercharged Shaq Lawson. Re-signing that kind of player while increasing his cost base ain't the path to a championship. 1 1 Quote

Not at any value, though. He's not a top ten guy. And $15 - $20M just isn't that much anymore. It's 5.8% to 7.8% of this year's cap. 92 players make an AAV of $20M. And if I counted right, 149 make more than $15M. Rousseau will get that money, maybe even low $20s, and he'll deserve it. There's a number at which he'd cost too much, but IMO he likes it in Buffalo and won't try to bleed every single drop out of this contract. 1 hour ago, NewEra said: A good idea would be to see how he plays this season and then discuss it. ToGoGo Posted October 19 Posted October 19 I differ than a lot of people here. I think he has another gear he hasn’t reached yet. He was raw coming out and has developed into a solid overall starter, especially against the run. We could do A LOT worse than the player he is today, but I still think he can break out further. 2 Quote
Governor Posted October 19 Posted October 19 I don’t think he’s worth paying top dollar to. I really don’t see any players presently on the defense that we should keep long term. Quote

Hopefully bishop turns out to be a hit Quote
