With Miller set to return the more impactful move would be a disruptive DT. Get me some Justin Simmons or Dexter Lawrence please. 😎

Bingo - Dexter Lawrence is who I want.  Unfortunately costs do not work out, but that guy is the difference maker on our defence.

I don't think anything the Bills have done over the past 12 months signals that 2024 is an "ALL IN" (to use your phrase), push-your-chips-into-the-center-of-the-table type of year.

They've been cutting veterans, shaving salary cap, and hording (and using) draft picks to re-stock the cupboards with young talent.

Everything they've been doing, in fact, points to 2024 being a soft re-set year, with 2025 and beyond being the years they hope to open a new and sustained window of Super Bowl contention.

For Beane to suddenly turn around and flip multiple high draft picks for Myles Garrett would be very, very surprising to me. I don't think it's gonna happen.

I’m with you, right up to the last point.  Here’s the thing, if you can get Garrett, just do it.  He’s a real impact player, the D absolutely needs one and you can make it work for cap next year, so if it’s possible go for it’s. What guy in the draft is likely to be that impactful when you are constantly in the bottom 10 picks, but never last?  It’s time to pick 32nd and be ok with giving up that pick to get there.

I think we have about $2 million in cap space. I just don't think it is responsible or even possible to fit another high cap player on the team. The Bills are already taking it on the chin this year in clearing dead money.

Don't get me wrong: Garrett is a great player, and if it was up to me, I'd be calling the Browns and seeing if something could be worked out.

I was more speaking to what I think Beane will do vs what I would do. I do not believe Beane wants to denude the top of his draft next year (he already traded away his 3rd) for one player. I don't think he wants to go into the draft with his first pick being in the 4th round. I just don't buy it for where the Bills are in their build right now.

I agree, go all in. This season.

Don't break the bank, mortgage the future. A 1 and a 2? A 1 and a 3?  Knox too, as he is simply not used?  For a great, game wrecking defensive lineman, one that will change the entire dynamic of our defense.

Surprisingly, after losing so many key players in the off season, the Bills may be close to a championship caliber team.  That, we will find more about in the coming weeks, month.

But either way, if not this year, next, and the Bills, once again, will not be in a draft position to get the one thing they have never had, a dominant, take over the game defensive lineman, capable of  breaking apart an offense.

So, yeah, why not go for it?  Now.

But I would rather have Crosby, as he is  only 27..

Garrett is doable bc of his contract, his base is Vet min, Crosby is not, his is 24 M.

I think that the media types are assuming that Cooper is a part-season rental, but my guess is that it's really a try out to see if he fits the Bills and he wants to be a Bill in 2025.   I would love to have Myles Garrett on the Bills but I don't think it happens even if Cleveland was interested in dealing him, which I'm not sure they are.

Basically many posters here are unhappy that Damlin is starting... they think they know better than the coaching staff.

I don't know better than the coaching staff and have faith that changes will be made in the starting lineup when they're merited.

The "you think you're smarter than management" card is the weakest of rebuttals.   Any completely uniformed idiot can claim that defense because there is no way of proving or disproving it.   It's like a slur.......the intent is simply to shout down the argument without really addressing the problem.   Smart people can make bad individual decisions.  A lot goes into the decision to acquire/retain or dispose of players and that can make smart management look very stupid.

Any good ideas for potentially upgraded the DT position?   Simmons is very very unlikely.

How about former Bill  DT Quinton Jefferson?   I know he wasn't great while here, but he'd be a decent rotational DT at least.

He has 6 sacks last year in 14 games with NYJ.  He is currently on the Browns

DE Za'Darius Smith +  DT Quinton Jefferson as a package would be quite helpful to us

Raiders DT John Jenkins is 35, but a massive space eater

DT Linval Joseph, Bill last year is now 36 but on the Cowboys.  Maybe they'd be willing to move him for a 6th?

Broncos DT D.J. Jones, ESPN thinks he could be moved due to being in the last year of his deal.  If Denver was willing to eat $, this would be a quality addition

IMO, unless Oliver returns to playing like he did last year and DaQuan Jones is healthy and playing how he's capable of in January,  it's going to be very difficult to beat top AFC teams

If Linval was the run plugger we needed, the Cowboys wouldn’t let him out of the building. I was excited when he signed last year, but he really wasn’t impactful. I think his best days are behind him.

I may be remembering this wrong, but I seem to remember that when Beane was first hired, he stated his goal was for the Bills to be a consistent playoff contender, emphasis on consistent, year in, year out.   I think he realizes that with the super bowl being a one and done tournament, combined with the randomness of injuries (January team is never the same as Sept. team), weather, officiating, and not playing with a round ball (lucky bounces), winning a super bowl is a complete crapshoot.

I think he feels that being in the tournament every year gives him his best chance of winning a super bowl (just like more draft choices give you the best chance of finding a stud-the lottery ticket model).  An all-in approach doesn't seem Beane-like.  The Von deal was out of character, and blew up in his face.

ALL IN doesn’t mean being reckless with the future.

So far, I’d say we’re operating like the Chiefs.. a Super Bowl contender year in/year out, who typically draft well and make decisions that allow themselves to compete for a Championship every year.

Obvious counter point is we have no Super Bowl trophies and that team has a Chris Jones on Defense.

Without Chris Jones, we have the same defense.

From listening to Joe B breakdown Rousseau’s success on his preferred side.. I think we have two potential avenues to get a Chris Jones.

1) Let Rousseau play primarily on his preferred side and tell Von he has to rotate in on the other side when Rousseau is on the field.   Then see if he can make the jump.

2) Explore the trade market and trade what likely starts with two premium picks, at minimum.

Andy Reid & Spags are a big difference between the Chiefs and Bills right now, but we know that’s not changing.   What can change is player personnel.  And the difference between the Chiefs and Bills in terms of the roster is Chris Jones.  And it’s been that way for years.
