People forget...

This is not the year to go "all in" despite the possibility of a 2 seed. Bills have 60+ mill in dead cap space. That equates to at least 4 quality starters that the Bills just don't have on their roster this year - but will next year. Could they win a SB this year? Maybe if the entire team is healthy. But we don't have any depth...the safeties are average at best and the they still  need a true #1 WR. Bills will not match up on paper vs Ravens, Chiefs and Lions this year...they may win 1-2 in playoffs but can't see running table - Next year though....

Beane hasn’t ever gone “all in”.

And he won’t this year.

Theyre view is sustainable, repeated bites at the apple.

But your sentiment is absurd.  We’re halfway through the year and hold sole possession of the 2 seed.  We are in Josh Allen’s prime.

IMO, we’re a field stretching WR and run stuffing DT away from as complete of a team there is in the league.  Safety would be nice, but we can get by without it, if moves are made elsewhere.

If we stand pat, it essentially comes down to what the health of teams look like entering the postseason.  KC wins the war of attrition every year… perhaps that’s the key to getting to the Super Bowl.. it may just be as simple as being healthier than them for once.

His first game was on a short week here...and didn't play this past week (game 3).

I would say he's still acclimating, too.

He came in on a Tuesday. So, nit a terribly short week and yes, he missed this past week's game. Doesn't mean his head isn't in the playbook

Couldn't agree with this post more.  Buffalo will need a healthy Keon and Cooper to make a run in the playoffs.  That much is certain.  If that happens and the injury bug goes away and doesn't come back this season, Buffalo stands as good a chance as anyone to knock off Baltimore and KC in the playoffs.  The possibility of getting back a healthy Milano on defense can not be understated either.  And who knows.  Maybe those other teams  have the injury bug hit them down the stretch like it always seems to hit us.  I'm not wishing that on anyone but dealing with injuries is a huge part of why some teams make it to the Super Bowl and other teams do not.

no one is saying his head isn't in the playbook.  Only that he is not close to being 100% the player he could/will be when he is fully healthy and has a firm grasp of the playbook and doesn't have to overthink things while on the field.

We will not match up on paper with Ravens, Chiefs and Lions this year....couple trades won't do that. We could win all three - but odds against it.

Much rather be healthy

No, I think what he meant was not 100% close to knowing the offense. Not about being healthy

I actually think we get destroyed by Detroit. The thought of Montgomery and Gibbs running the ball down our throats is almost a certainty

Lions will be tough but I don’t think the other two are as bad a matchup as people think unless we’re missing all our LBers and taron johnson again lol

Ravens with Lamar, King Henry and Justice Hill. Hill killed us in the screen game. I'm actually dreading seeing JT28 this week. I'm hoping beyond hope that Beane gets us a DT and not relying on Eli Ankou

That’s gonna be a ‘dare Goff to beat you’ type game and he probably will but we’ll see.  I don’t think we’ll give up as much in the running game as this weekend.  Goff can’t get the ball out as quick and they don’t have tyreek which lets us focus on the run more.  Goin against hill and waddle with no benford this week was a pretty tall order

it’ll be the classic we give up 200 receiving yards to a TE type game against the lions 🤣

Do we even have the cap space to do anything? I wouldn’t go all in this year. 25% of the cap is dead cap. Keep our draft capital and continue to build the team. Sign some great FA this offseason.

The all in mentality to me, means taking a really big swing at what you think might be the final piece needed to get over the hump.  I also don't think this years roster is there, but as long as you have Allen, you have to do whatever you can, each and every year.  You never know, when it might be our year.

The key, which Beane has been very good at, is keeping a balanced approach.  Adding pieces today, without sacrificing tomorrow too much.

That being said, if an elite pass rusher becomes available, that would be my move.  I would love to see us trade for DT.  Daquan Jones is only a stop gap.  He's getting a bit long in the tooth, and isn't half the player he was pre-injury last year.  We're also very thing at DT, with Carter still out.

Get a DT that can help us this year, who we can also rely on for the next couple of years.  We will need to add one in the offseason anyhow, lets get a jump on that now if we can.

All in would be trading multiple high picks for someone like Myles Garrett. It’s what the Rams did during their recent SB. I don’t think it’s the right move for this roster.

I tend to agree with this line of thinking as well. I’d do something for a late pick or pick swap but I’m not giving up a high end asset. We already did that for Cooper but we did get a later pick back.

Keep building the youth on this roster. Going to need it for defense next year which is aging and deficient in some areas

I don’t really understand the safety takes. They signed a guy and haven’t played him because they like Hamlin.

Edge and DT are majors needs due to injury. Not sure they go after someone with a big cap hit next year. But Epenesa hasn’t locked down his spot so a starting edge player is a need.

They are too expensive.  Bottom line is we don’t have the $ for it.  In a Madden world, sure.

AZ is a buyer and they don't retain $ on any trades.  No way we could get Baker

Why? They have a great Oline. Great CBs. Cooper makes the WR group hiod. RB group is excellent. TEs are ok. We have the QB. We should be win now all the time. What if next year Josh breaks his right hand not his left hand?

Bills are one pass rusher away from an excellent team.

They are not going to bench Hamlin unless he gets hurt. So safety is not really in play

They don't need another WR with Cooper, Shakir, and Samuel even if Coleman misses a few weeks.

Time is now to mortgage the future for a DE. Think about it. Would you trade Elam and Kincaid for Myles Garrett. Hell yes!  Late round first round draft picks are still a crap shoot. Beane has repeatedly missed on drafting DL.

Go get a veteran pass rusher.

My quick review says Garett's base salary for this year is only a little over a million dollars. Almost all his salary has already been paid as a bonus. So they can fit him under the cap, just need to be willing to give up the draft picks!

I think we match up well with KC. But I don't think we do with Baltimore or Detroit at all

Our LBer play has been very poor this year. We play super bend-but-don’t-break defense in part to protect our safeties which is a super weak positional group. We have no pass rush. Adding Cooper is great, but the WR group is still pretty weak. Depth behind Taron Johnson (Cam Lewis) has been really bad, and Johnson has been injured a lot this season.

If we break the bank on a pass rusher, Mahomes will just carve up our poor LBers and Safeties. This just isn’t an “all in” roster. It was supposed to be a re-tool year where we take our cap medicine and some younger players get reps.
