I think the team is fine with Hamlin/Rapp back there. I don’t get it myself.

Safety hasn't been the issue, DL then LB is.  Need to get bigger at DT, and better pass rush from DE.

Yea I dunno they really stink at stopping the run in their base D. Granted it’s a light box. 4 DL. And then Dorian , TB and TJ as backers. Just way too

small and light.

One would think sellers have to be;

Pats

Rams

Browns

Titans

Jags

Could see a few more moves league wide with the way things are going. I think beane makes one more move but on D.

I do think having some better LB play would cover up the safety issues. But without Milano, that seems doubtful. I think Dorian williams has had some issues in the run game and coverage.

Idle thought: Would Pittsburgh take Hamlin + a pick in exchange for a safety upgrade? (Do they even have anyone that would be an upgrade and they’d need willing to part with?)

The worst thing that could happen back there was Hamlin lucking out two interceptions.

When it comes to the trade deadline, if we're to acquire someone for a push, it should be someone who is on a one year deal or nothing guaranteed beyond this season.

After this year, we're either going to need to re-sign Amari Cooper and Rasul Douglas or find a new WR1 and CB1.

We're also probably going to want to extend at least one, if not more, of the many successful Draft Picks from the 2022 Draft. As James Cook, Khalil Shakir, Terrel Bernard and Christian Benford will all be unrestricted after next season. As will Greg Rousseau at the same time after using our 5th year option on him.

I'm not against trading for someone who can help us now and won't cost us anything after this year (which is a big part of why Cooper got done instead of others IMO). But we've got way too many pieces of our core coming up to commit any money for next season.

As it is, we're probably not going to be able to retain all 7 of those players over the next two offseasons. Having to say goodbye to even more of that core than we're already going to have to do doesn't seem to be in Beane's MO - and rightfully so.

I don’t see the Steelers being sellers at the moment.

Steelers have the same record as we do, they're not trading.

Do you feel Benford and someone else would be good next year if Douglas leaves?

Benford and Ingram? Or do you go on the market for a guy?

There’s certainly a decent amount of CB’s hitting the market in 2025, at least for now.

Eric Stokes is someone I wouldn’t mind them taking a gamble on for the right price. The only problem becomes is his injury history. When he plays he’s a pretty darn good CB.

Carlton Davis? I think he’ll be a very price player again. Especially if Detroit continue the play they’ve had on the field.

DJ Reed? Probably think the Jets resign him if he agrees. They have the cap space and definitely need the help they can get in that secondary.

Byron Murphy? I don’t know much of his game but always felt, whenever I was watch the Cardinals, that he was making plays.

Jeff Okudah? His final year in Detroit wasn’t too bad from what I can remember. Was absolutely shocking they ditched a high first rounder for a day 3 draft pick. Can his career be salvaged under the DB whisperer? He’s a physical talent and has had some production on the league…

Obviously the draft might have to be where we hit a home run in either WR or CB if both Cooper and Douglas aren’t retained.

If it comes down to only being able to retain one of Cooper or Douglas - it's Cooper and it's not even a question.

But I would hope we can get them both done. If not, Ingram has shown some promise. And Elam will have one more chance with the team, if we don't trade him.

I think we'd roll with them, sign a Cheaper vet that McDermott thinks he can make work, and then Draft someone. Depending on how negotiations with Benford are going in the early stages will determine how high that selection would be.

Would ♥️ Delpit!! Problem being is would McDermott play him over Hamlin?

Sean calling a fake punt against KC and giving the ball to Hamlin tells you the answer to that

Pass rush will get better with the return of Von. DL disruptor is the key component to go to SB and win.
