JMM Posted October 16 Posted October 16 I don't think this is " window dressing " in any sense. I think this is doing your due diligence and being ready to pull the trigger if needed. If you think that Beane will not pull the trigger because of a cap hit, then I suggest you think about what happened in April with a guy named Diggs. 2 Quote
El_diablo Posted October 16 Posted October 16 Trade Bass and Elam to Dallas for their kicker. 1 Quote

Bills have very little history of elite kicker production for more than 1-2 seasons. there are lies, damn lies, and statistics. Bass is missing wildly in all different ways from all different distances (usually short ones too). If he was just missing long attempts or just missing to the right, I would feel a lot better. These shanks, then pull hooks, then slices, etc. are alarming. 3 Quote
Cheektowaga Chad Posted October 16 Posted October 16 Can the bills even afford to cut bass? I imagine the first step to a new kicker is to sign them to the practice squad and use their call ups before making a full decision or figuring out the cap 1 Quote
Mike in Horseheads Posted October 16 Posted October 16 After practice squad ya can kick Bass in the shin and IR him for 4 wks to see if a new guy works Quote
Brand J Posted October 16 Posted October 16 Justin Tucker, one of the best kickers in NFL history, finished his college career 83% on FGs and wasn’t invited to the combine or any all star games. He went undrafted in 2012 and has been money for the majority of his career. I don’t know much about this Mevis guy, but we can’t really transfer college FG% to the NFL. Many kickers who were great in college have left much to be desired in the pros. The Dallas kicker, Brandon Aubrey, didn’t even start kicking until 2019. Every case is different, so I say bring this guy in rather than a retread who has already proved himself to be inconsistent. Quote
notpolian Posted October 16 Posted October 16 I remember the thic dude at Missouri. He can play. Don't forget that the hash marks are farther apart in college. So actually kicking can be harder there than in the pros (college tees and wider goalposts are long gone too). Quote

I'm K-State fan, and this was definitely one to remember...so he does have a strong leg for sure. Quote

Did anyone give Marrone as much grief about carrying a kickoff specialist as people give McDermott about rostering Taiwan Jones? Always. Rostering a kick off specialist is patently ridiculous. 1 Quote

Just replacing him with a warm body is a bad idea for a team that may contend for a championship this year. 1 Quote
ColoradoBills Posted October 17 Posted October 17 If I had it my way, I would have these kickers compete and the best gets a PS slot. Continue the competition (now with Bass) and elevate him for a game if it looks promising. Quote
