I don’t think the two are mutually exclusive.  Yes he is guaranteed the money but if another team volunteers to give him some of it it can come off the bills books.  It depends on if the contract has. “ offset language”

Vs

Explanation

If a player with guaranteed money is cut, they are still owed that money. However, if they sign with a new team on a different deal, their old team is only responsible for a portion of the guaranteed money. The new team makes up the difference.

Example

If a player has $4 million in guaranteed money left on their contract and signs with a new team on a $1 million deal, their old team is only responsible for $3 million.

I haven't read anything about offset language.  I guess if there is the savings is still minimal, seeing as the guaranteed money was $2.25M, minus the prorated portion.  But when you're this close to the cap every little bit helps.

Edit: after a little more research, Sportrac has his 2024 dead cap hit at $1.35M so I stand corrected.

Yeah it could be 6-700k… whatever the min is for the rest of the year.

I'm wondering how to interpret this sportrac info now.  If they say there's $1.35M dead cap hit this year, is that the remaining guaranteed portion of his contract after having paid him already for his time on the roster?  If that's the case, then no savings.  idk

Is he still unsigned?  We had him as one of just 5 wideouts on the 53 - nobody else wants him even on their PS?

He signed with the Saints, and apparently 2 other teams were interested (Indy and Washington).

He would have been our #2 today, crazy how a few weeks and injuries change the landscape. Maybe Josh didn’t have a good connection with him though. Good for him showing out today.

It’s just puzzling that the Bills couldn’t get him on the field and take shots down the field with this guy.

Defenses play our offense a lot differently from how they play the Saints. Against the Saints they're playing closer to the LoS to make sure Kamara doesn't take over the game. Against us they are hanging back making sure Allen doesn't beat them deep... MVS couldn't produce with us for the same reason he couldn't produce with the Chiefs. He runs basically one route and it's the one route defenses are selling out to stop when they play Allen and Mahomes.

Josh missed him by a lot at least twice deep.  It’s not Josh’s strength.

He was getting open deep a decent amount. Josh would over throw him.

?

We dialed up one deep shot to him in week 1, that was it. Other than that he was a decoy pulling coverage vertically.

I know for a fact Josh missed him bad twice while running wide open downfield.

Josh also missed a wide open Diggs many times last year deep too:

Its not his strong suit

I’d love to see a ranking on QB accuracy on throws that go for more than 40 air yards, because it feels to me that Josh is in the bottom third of the league. If that was a strong suit of his game he really would be the ultimate cheat code. Kincaid actually got injured on the wide open pass he had to dive for.

Funny how MVS learned a new playbook in 2-weeks but local media is still making the injury excuse for Curtis Samuel.

Sal Capaccio is telling you everyday about “trust” and “assignments”.

The Bills swapped Valdez-Scantling who has made plays in the Super Bowl for Jalen Virgil.

How does that look good on our FO or Coaching Staff?

But hey, let’s keep 5 every season and bank on zero injuries.

Did you call WGR this morning and argue with Sal by any chance?

if so that was entertaining and all I could think was this guy on the air must post here since he is obsessed with WR.
