I still think ultimately the Jets have a stronger roster to sustain themselves through the course of the season…

PS…If the Bills are looking to draft a WR in the upcoming draft, it doesn’t look promising…Last year was the year to do it, unfortunately…

Early on, DT looks like the way to go in the next draft…There are some really good prospects from the mid to late first round…

The Jets have that defense which I know a lot of people think is overrated but I think it’s one of the best in the game, and that will always help them stay in games. All they need is a moderate offence and they’ll win plenty, plus they have a softer schedule.

their trouble is the offense under Rodgers has been as bad as it was under Wilson, so if they can improve that they’ll have a good shot at the division.

the Bills defense is capable of being very good but is inconsistent and gives up too many third down conversions so they’re hard to trust

He fell well within reach to go get him.  The Bills have traded up to draft Elam, Kincaid and multiple other later round guys, but THIS is the one case you can’t understand?

Those were slight move ups. To Get Thomas, the Blls would have had to get in front of Jacksonvills. Go and look at the actual draft, and identify the team that would have been willing to trade back. Here are the relevant picks:

17 Minnesota Vikings Dallas Turner

18 Cincinnati Bengals Amarius Mims OT GeorgiaSEC

19 Los Angeles Rams Jared Verse DE Florida State ACC

20 Pittsburgh Steelers Troy Fautanu OT WashingtonPac-12

21 Miami Dolphins Chop Robinson DE Penn StateBig Ten

22 Philadelphia Eagles Quinyon Mitchell CB ToledoMAC

23 Jacksonville Jaguars Brian Thomas Jr. WR LSUSEC

17 - The Vikings traded up with Jacksonville to get Turner

18 - The Bengals reallllly needed OL help and took the best that they could get. This was a terrible pick, but the Bengals don't know how to scout OL so it's par for the course

19 - Rams needed to replace at least part of Aaron Donald's pass rush production

20 - The Steelers reallllly needed OL help. They took a C in the second round who's starting for them.

21 - Fins would never trade in division, otherwise this would have been the spot

22 - Eagles had a terrible secondary last year and went into the draft aiming to address that. Their first two picks were both CBs, and they got the best one in the draft here.

23 - The Jags read the board the way that I just did and traded back knowing that Thomas would still be there.

The Bills would have had to massively overpay to get those teams to not take the BPA at positions of real need. In retrospect, Beane should have used that Minnesota 2025 second to move up before the draft, but we had no way of knowing that the Vikings would overperform this year.

Yeah, the depth of talent in the WR is going to be significantly less than this past draft.

i feel like Lacy (LSU), Egbuka (OSU) and McMillan (AU) could all be pretty decent.

Are Harbor from South Carolina and Evans from Georgia eligible?

So between the 2023 and 24 draft classes:

Nabers

Puka

Addison

Rice

Harrison

Flowers

Dell

Johnston

Wicks

Jaden Reed

Brian Thomas

Worthy

Odunze

Polk

Legette

AD Mitchell

Keon Coleman

Anyone I’m missing?

Knowing Diggs was heading toward disaster and Davis not working out we should have at least 2 of these on the roster maybe 3.

It’s overrated but still good imo.  A lot of people read overrated and immediately assume ‘bad’. They’ve had a few terrible offense great defense opponents so far in this small sample size that is skewing their offense worse and defense better than I think they will end up.

I think they’re just outside the top 10 if they continue on the pace they’re on defensively but they get talked about like they’re in the elite tier.  That defensive line stepping up a little more could get them back in the elite convo though

i watch way too many jets games with them being my local network games 🤣

I actually think the odds are pretty spot on, it’s pretty basic math to determine the chances of a lot of these teams digging themselves out of a hole and others having to completely collapse for things to be much different.   Could it happen? Sure.  But if you come back and look at this picture at the EOY, I bet Vegas wins.

The AFC has kind of fallen apart haha.  The Bills are “retooling” (or the failure to add talent where it matters is catching up, your choice of words), Steelers still have no O, Browns are Browning, Bengals had to pay their QB, Tua did Tua, Jets gambled on a 40 yr old, and all the other shots at QB missed the mark.   You’re left with the Chiefs, Texans, Ravens and maybe the Josh Allen’s having a shot to win it.

If there is any truth to the Kay Adams podcast with the Raiders front office guy, luck will change dramatically with an Adams trade.

Is tua not on track for a week 8 return anymore?  +750 for the dolphins seems like an interesting value bet.  I think I’d take that before the jets +310

Their offense wasn't doing well for like 8 games going back to last season with Tua.

We blew our opportunity at Brian Thomas. Settled for Coleman and drafted no other young prospect....Brilliant Beane.

How did we blow it ? Wasn’t he picked before us ? I don’t understand

If the expectation is that the Bills would have 3 of the top 20ish young receivers in the game, that's already a bar that not a single team in the NFL can meet - let alone show that by ignoring other positions to do so may lead to gaps across the team that limit success

Secondly, of the 17 guys on your list, the Bills didnt even have a real chance to get 7 of them (5 or more picks away from their first round selection).  Really, they had chances on:

Coleman - We drafted him - At expectation right now

AD Mitchell - Has 6 catches this year

Legette - worse than Coleman so far

Polk - 70 yards this year

Worthy - Very similar to Keon so far

Reed - Projected as a 4th round guy who was taken middle of the second

Wicks - 10 catches this year

Rice - Steal - great pick by KC

Puka - Great pick by Rams

Dell - 137 yards this year and 0 TDs

They drafted Coleman who has been right at expectations so far, in place of some of the other guys in that range who are performing at or below Keon's level.  Reed was a great pick by Green Bay, but was considered a reach at the time.  Rice and Puka were great picks, but Beane also should get credit for Shakir, who looks spectacular.

It would be nice if the Bills had selected a Rice or Puka, but 30 other teams missed those guys too.  The Bills landed Shakir who looks amazing.  Where Beane has struggled was Samuel.  He missed there (so far), and it would have been a good to get someone like Mooney instead, who ultimately was too expensive.
