Royale with Cheese Posted October 10 Posted October 10 3 slices of whole wheat bread - toasted. Oat bread is a good alternative. The higher end and not the store brand or Natures Own. The middle slice covered with extra chunky peanut butter. The bottom and top bread slice with a thin spread of grape jelly. The peanut butter needs to dominate the taste. Quote
Saxum Posted October 10 Posted October 10 I use peanut butter mixed with chocolate to kill squirrels - squirrels love peanut butter and chocolate is fatal to squirrels. Sometimes there is a little jelly on it. Does that count? Quote

Also, I definitely have some grave concerns about grape jelly?! i would go with lightly toasted thin Italian bread, with 2-3 TBS of crunch peanut butter, and 1-2 TBS of strawberry jelly. 4 Quote
Einstein Posted October 10 Posted October 10 I didn’t know people actually enjoyed the taste of whole wheat. I thought they just ate it because they had to. 1 1 2 Quote
Success Posted October 10 Posted October 10 I only eat PB&J grilled now. Give it a shot if you've never tried it that way. Usually pure peanut butter for me - all natural. I prefer strawberry jam, not jelly. Never jelly, for the sake of pete. Bread can vary - white or wheat always works. Quote

I can barely accept it on a club sandwich, but that is a thing. On a PBJ it sounds like a way to fill a tummy. I might have done that in college, I must admit. Quote
Your Brown Eye Posted October 10 Posted October 10 Put a dollop of mayonaisse in your PBJ the next time you have one, saltiness from peanut butter, sweetness from jelly, and tanginess from mayo will change you life. Thank me later. 1 1 Quote

Definitely agree with strawberry preserves...the kind with chunks of strawberries. Preserves should be thick and a nice spread of smooth peanut butter. I like Italian bread which can hold up to the ample portions of PB and J. 1 Quote

Re smooth PB, I have to say that we usually get generic PB. But we got some Jif not long ago. That smooth Jif on a PBJ with the strawberry preserves is top notch! 1 Quote
Royale with Cheese Posted October 11 Author Posted October 11 I am simply shocked no one here likes whole wheat bread. What the hell is wrong with you people? Quote
US Egg Posted October 11 Posted October 11 If jelly isn’t squeezing out when you bite into it there isn’t enough on it. Quote
ExiledInIllinois Posted October 11 Posted October 11 Only a Big Mac is worthy of 3 slices of bread: But on a PB&J??? That's just too much bread! 52 minutes ago, Royale with Cheese said: I am simply shocked no one here likes whole wheat bread. What the hell is wrong with you people? A PBJ should have the gooiest, sweetest most sugar-laden white bread you can possibly find. Like falling apart Wonder bread levels of awfulness..... 1 1 Quote
DD4Bills Posted October 11 Posted October 11 1. Three pieces of thick cut bread (prefer whole wheat, but you do you) 2. Thick spread of PB on piece #1 3. Thin spread of jelly or jam, usually strawberry but doesn't really matter...as you'll see, on piece #2 4. Throw out piece #2 and replace with piece #3 covered with thick spread of Fluff 5. Piece #3 on piece #1 6. Enjoy Quote
