rusty shackleford Posted October 8 Posted October 8 I have close friends in the northwestern area of Bradenton that evacuated this morning. Others that are a few miles inland just outside of the mandatory evac zone that are planning on riding it out. Hope everyone stays safe. Quote

BigdaddyinOrlando Posted October 8 Posted October 8 Gonna be a long night tomorrow and Thursday for sure. Fully expect to hear the sound of generators all day on Thursday and this weekend. Got ours ready but praying won’t need to use it! Good luck to everyone out there and willing to lend a hand to anyone who needs it! Stay safe all! 4 Quote

I have a friend that lives in Tampa and she's not leaving. She said her house is 46 feet above sea level and about 7 miles inland....should be fine according to her. I don't know if she's being smart. Someone had to say it. Stay safe over there everybody. I cannot imagine what it is like to live in the aftermath of a hurricane like Helene was. Quote

You guys get hit with a tropical storm or hurricane seemingly every year! Right now - obviously a good question, but, in December-March there are no tropical storms and there's nothing better than leaving CT where it's 20 degrees and landing in Ft Myers got sun and 80 degrees 1 Quote

I heard insurance is a joke too. All the best to everyone in those areas. Edited October 8 by C.Biscuit97 2 Quote

Things in the Tampa St. Pete area are going to be much worse....in fact, most of that area of Florida has evacuated to the Orlando area. Didn't really enjoy the game this week knowing what is coming, and most likely won't see the next one unless I am extremely lucky about not losing power. Funny enough, during Ian 2 years ago, 95% of my County lost power, but remarkably, I was in the 5%......so here's to hoping I get that lucky again. If not, I and many of our Florida Bills fans may not be able to check in for a while, so spare a thought for us down here in FL and wish us a safe passage through this storm....I will post an update as soon as I can, and I hope our other Fl Bills fans do the same when they can. Stay safe, everyone!! Stay safe as well 1 1 Quote
machine gun kelly Posted October 8 Posted October 8 Many of you know me so you know I live in Tampa. The good news for us is we are elevation C so not a mandatory evacuation. A, B zones are mandatory so basically anywhere near water including all the areas around the Bay. I’m fortunate as our condo is although on the 1st floor, my glass and windows is all East facing so the front of the building will get nailed. I appreciate the well wishes. Once you gassed up, get the shudders up, buy you’re perishable foods and water, and get gas. Then it’s just wait it out or leave. We stayed.Bottom line is heavy wind and rain and then it gets really bad from 7pm to 7 am. It’s too bad there is not more interesting NFL news as well get cabin fever by Friday. All shops etc. are on a mandatory close now until 7pm Thursday. We’ve been ordered to stay in homes or shelters during this time. Only emergency vehicles moving forward. 5 2 Quote

This is very true, I have friends who have lived in FL for 15 years but moved to Sarasota 6 months ago who are "gonna ride it out". I have tried to reason with them but they will not come inland. 1 Quote

TrentEdwardsCheckDownOn4th Posted October 8 Posted October 8 Really wish I could understand why anyone chooses to move to that state but I just don't understand it. I get if you've lived there your whole life and don't want to uproot. Praying for you and everyone else in florida 🙏 Quote

House, The authorities will not let you if you are in coastal are like Clearwater Beach. For the last 18 years or so all homes built with mandatory hurricane shudders. That’s a little saving Grace as before the flooding and storm surges, the extreme winds can send branches like missiles. Everyone I know is already prepped so now it’s just get you’re mind off it, binge shows, get on here as a distraction. 3 Quote

In the past 15 years I have lost power from a hurricane for about a combined 24 hours, so not a really big deal. 1 Quote
