Process Posted October 7 Posted October 7 I think people are forgetting how bad Allen and the offense were for a large part of last season. So no I don't think he looks off or different this year. In fact I think his accuracy in the first three weeks was the best we've seen in years. He was terrible yesterday. Bad slumps have been a part of every Allen season and likely will be going forward, we should be used to it at this point. I don't think we will ever see 2020 regular season Allen again. Still top 2. Still confident he'll show up in January when it matters. 2 Quote
298Woody Posted October 8 Posted October 8 I think he is injured and why his accuracy is off. Last year he changed his throwing mechanics because of injury and he talked about it during training camp. He was awful. He is reluctant to run and slides more than ever(which is a good thing). Quote
Ray Stonada Posted October 8 Posted October 8 First three games he took more checkdowns. He seems to get bored of doing that every year from Oct-Dec. 1 Quote
Jimmy Harris 69 Posted October 8 Posted October 8 Allen had the yips yesterday. On a couple plays he took off when he didn’t have to and on others, he had real estate and chose to throw bad passes instead. His protection was inconsistent again this week which is ingredient number one to yipage. Since he had little preseason play, he (and the entire league ) is forced to work out problems over the first five games. Lack of real game experiences with this receiving corp is part of the issues we see. Roster and scheme issues really hurt Allen yesterday. WTF is Hollins doing starting over anybody? Why is Allen hurling bombs from the end zone when all he needs is 10 yards on three plays ? Is he listening to his coaches? He passed up open guys again yesterday to try low percentage long passes. Just like the decision against the chiefs last year in the playoffs. We still have some hero ball issues at times. But that’s Josh. He blows your mind, and can break your heart. Quote
FireChans Posted October 8 Posted October 8 A QB breaking their hand week 1 hurdling defenders, then bruising or breaking ribs week 4 on the worst trick play of all time, then smacking their head and playing with a "chest" injury is looking "off." I don't think this is a mystery. 1 Quote
Governor Posted October 8 Posted October 8 (edited) Physically he looks a little off. He isn’t getting away from the rush like he once did and he’s a bit slow to react. Could just be that he’s carrying extra weight or isn’t in peak shape. He’s definitely not as quick. He looks more like Big Ben this year. Could be injuries catching up. Reminds me of a boxer that’s come in a little overweight. Edited October 8 by Governor Quote

Our weaknesses didn’t show up as much Edited October 8 by C.Biscuit97 Quote

And no I’m not saying he’s “lost a step” and I don’t think it has anything to do with his receivers. I’m judging this based of his stats. Hes yet to throw a pick this year or throw for 300+ yards in a game. I hate to say it, but I sorta miss the careless 18 turnovers a year Allen. Because the fact is, we were WINNING and Allen was flourishing . I think with 2021 Allen, we win yesterday. I also notice he’s sliding on a lot of runs. I don’t know I could be wrong. Let me know what you guys think.. You’re way off. He just won OPOM, hasn’t thrown a pic, amd incredibly efficient. Lastly, he’s throwing to a bunch of Jags minus Kinkaid, Shakir and Cook. The others are worthless. It’s the main reason Allen is getting hurt, or at the least banged up as Beane royally screwed the pooch in the WR selections. Quote

Oh ffs for the first 3 games it was all "He's easily MVP" and "He's doing so much better now the cancer that wore 14 is gone" to "he's off", "he's lost a step" and now a second post that's borderline complaining he doesn't turn the ball over enough anymore. You want me to "let you know what I think?" Sure. I think there's a whole lotta people here that need to get their meds readjusted, go touch grass and/or pick up a new hobby. 1 Quote

TrentEdwardsCheckDownOn4th Posted October 8 Posted October 8 (edited) Do you guys realize how spoiled we've become ? Allen literally has the top QBR rating in the league and it's not that close. He has 10 touchdowns and 0 turnovers. 15 hours ago, Governor said: Physically he looks a little off. He isn’t getting away from the rush like he once did and he’s a bit slow to react. I could see an allen transformation into Big Ben slowly happening. Edited October 8 by TrentEdwardsCheckDownOn4th 1 1 1 Quote

He still played a pretty decent game, given the circumstances. Quote

I said I’m not saying he has lost a step, I just think he’s changed his game up a little bit Josh has been inaccurate, can't blame it all on the receivers. needs a little more practice! 1 Quote

But he didn't. I think fans are just frustrated that Allen's talent is being wasted. (Poor coaching/ lack of supporting talent) Edited October 8 by TurfToeJam Quote
Locomark Posted October 8 Posted October 8 The last few years Josh was already throwing to targets he knew for years… Knox, Davis, Singletary, and Diggs. Now he obviously had a bunch of new guys and he 2nd guesses throwing the ball to them because of their low separation. Quote

We all knew it would come eventually and I think McD has tried to change the system to be more favorable to that future version of Josh. I get it. I just don’t think they’re doing a great job at it presently. Quote
