I dont think that is true, the independent neurologist was in place for Tua's concussions.  But they did tweek the protocol to inlcude ataxia as a no-go....

Funny, this whole board was positive Tua had a concussion from their couches and that was accepted.

LOl, well, not by everyone!

Some supremely dumb threads and posts after this loss.  I tend not to get on here much after losses, generally speaking.  Now I am wondering if so many are so ignorant this often? In this thread, the OP diagnosed a concussion from his couch, and would bet on his intelligent diagnosis...

All the trashing of McD and Beane and other super dumb, can't be any dumber threads than this and the OP. Like little kids with no logic or experience, just throwing out random reactions as factual.

In his post-game presser he said "big shot to the chest" and "rolled my ankle."

After the incident he walked-off on his own to the sideline as if nothing happened, waved off smelling salts and did a 3-1/2 minute post-game press conference under bright lights.

there was no shot to the chest on that play

It sure looked like a concussion to me.  That was old school to give him smelling salts and send him back in the game.  I think it will be looked at this week by the league.  For Allen to come out in the post game presser and say yeah it was my chest and an ankle..  Ok, Josh.

He waved-off the person offering him smelling salts.

Take it up with Josh.  That's what he said.

Not with head injuries.

There is an independent neurologist who makes the call on head injuries.  That doctor is unaffiliated with the team.

Expand

No.  Head team physician still has final say.

So you believe Tua also didn’t have a concussion because he also passed the test from an independent neurologist.

Yes. There isn't a conspiracy out there. If you pass the tests they clear you.

Again, none of you are neurologists and I'm not about to question a Doctor who is specifically hired by the NFL to catch these things.

They also have spotters in the box, they also began using guardian head caps. The NFL takes it seriously, clearly.

This is factually incorrect.

The independent neurologist has the final say on whether or not a player returns to action.

I thought he got the wind knocked out of him, which might have just been how he landed.  His head did hit the turf but that doesn't mean he got a concussion either.  Boxers get punched in the head and don't get a concussion on every punch.

https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/5764056/2024/09/12/what-is-nfl-concussion-protocol/

Who has the final say about the player’s status?

If a player doesn’t exhibit one of the “no-go” symptoms, then each step of the league’s concussion protocol is determined by a team physician in consultation with an unaffiliated neurotrauma consultant on the sideline.

https://static.www.nfl.com/image/upload/v1665264248/league/moexjmdzy2kvjtqsdpbx.pdf

Regardless, the responsibility for the diagnosis of concussion and the decision to return a player to a game remains exclusively within the professional judgment of the Head Team Physician or his/her physician designee responsible for the diagnosis and treatment of concussion

For the avoidance of doubt, the responsibility for the diagnosis of concussion and the decision to return a player to a game remain exclusively within the professional judgment of the Head Team Physician or the Club physician designated as responsible for the diagnosis and management of concussion.

Matt Hasselbeck on the Cowherd show said the way Josh Allen's injury was handled was "embarrassing, disgusting and a joke".    He was visibly angry about it.

"how he landed" was with his head bouncing off the turf.

you can't see someone not get a concussion (he was out by the way)--getting the wind knocked out of you doesn't make you temporarily motionless prone...

I'm not saying you're wrong because I think he was concussed.  However, have you ever gotten the wind knocked out of you?  You can't move.

I'm pretty certain Josh was concussed.  He passed the protocol and they allowed him back out.

Josh is too tough for his own good.  He is also too smart for his own good.  So passing a protocol despite being concussed should not come as a surprise.

Expand

So you think he's smart enough to BS the Dr's & specialist?

I deserve it, I know 😉

what we do know is, Josh didn’t get us a TD.  Trubisky may only have had a .5% chance of scoring, but at this point, that’s better than the 💯 fail we got from Allen
