We are a really good team in a reset year. I’m not getting rid of Beane. McD is a really good coach, but not winning a SB falls at his feet. Respectfully. Quote

He is a great coach, but I don’t think he’s the right coach for this team anymore. Barring a Super Bowl victory or a spectacular turn around, Buffalo should bring in a McVay/Shanahan type of guru for Josh. No one was getting open. are you for real?? I mean it wasn't gravy but man, we were open in the first half!! Josh missed 4 throws and missed open guys all game. I was there. It wasn't good. The Texans fans were chatting to me... saying Josh is good but doesn't see the field. Quote

Josh Allen has no weapons either because a.) There’s no talent there or because b.) Game planning sucks. 1 Quote

I'm not sure about that, was he running for his life on those plays? I honestly didn't see seperation. He missed Kincaid....but? You might be right, I just did not see it. Quote

To me the goal should always be the Super Bowl. I’m sorry but he is not the man to get us there. Today reinforces this in spades. Today reminded me of the playoffs every year. 1 Quote

Today reminded me of the playoffs every year. All they had to do was run 3 times and force Texans to use 3 timeouts, you may even have less time left and then Texans only have Hail Mary option with no timeouts, McDermott is just not a good late game manager and it continues to show over and over Edited October 7 by Niagara Dude spelling 1 3 2 Quote
bouds Posted October 6 Posted October 6 I’m not a fan of the roster, but I’m not sure who to blame, both share equal amounts. Quote

We should not be in this position period Beane gets too much credit for picking Josh. The previous year Pegula wanted Mahomes and McDermott talked him into trading with KC to pick a cornerback. The Josh pick was a group decision that Pegula was part of. Beane has made numerous errors overpaying and bringing in the wrong players. Knox, Bass, Miller, Samuels and a bunch of garbage receivers. Sweats Posted October 6 Posted October 6 I didn't see a Pegs option, so i'm throwing his name in the ring for the hell of it. Quote
Ethan in Cleveland Posted October 6 Posted October 6 This is a faulty premise. McDermott runs the team. Beane gets him the players he wants not the other way around. McDermott couldn't handle Diggs so he was moved along just like they did with Dareus. The only thing McDermott has improved upon during his tenure is when to go for it on 4th down. He mostly gets that right. Quote
HerdMentality Posted October 7 Posted October 7 McDermott. I like the guy but ugh. Kincaid might have bobbled the ball – – – when he was out of bounds? No challenge? The other catch the 5 yard line was challenged worthy as well… Foot knee/foot knee/foot knee And the clock management at the end… What the heck? I’ve always liked Sean. But this followed by the legendary non-squib kick in Kansas City makes me question his coaching status. Quote
BillMafia716ix Posted October 7 Posted October 7 We 3-2 still in first place in the division w/ a squad that has multiple guys out lol. 1 Quote
colin Posted October 7 Posted October 7 i think mcd has as much influence on the gm as any hc in the nfl. also, i think what they prepare for, who the line up, and how they run their o and d are the bigger issues. baltimore has a lot of talent, but their d has been horrible except for vs us. houston has a couple guys, but is not a great d by any means. both of them turned our o into zeroville. josh allen played not good vs balt and really bad vs houston, but it is clear the book is out and people know what to do to stop us. i refuse to believe that a josh allen lead offense should be 3 of 14 or whatever on 3rd down, and fail to score a td from the 9 or better twice in any game, let alone vs houston with who they have. 1 Quote

harmonkillebrew Posted October 7 Posted October 7 Fault for what? End of the game fiascos, coaching to lose = McDermott But he runs a good locker room and is a good defensive coach. Failing to build a winning team around a generational talent at QB = Beane So I blame them both 1 Quote
Mister Defense Posted October 7 Posted October 7 Responsible for what??? For having the 2nd best record in the NFL over the last 5 years, second only to the 3 time SB champion Chiefs???? I would say both have been responsible for this significant success. You give yourself away, your ignorance, with your opening words: "As much as I'd love to blame McDermott" Translation: "So, while I hate both of these men, tonight, well my extremely irrational hate is more focused on Beane." 43 minutes ago, harmonkillebrew said: Fault for what? Are all the crazy hate posts on McD and/or Beane as comically ignorant as the posts in this thread, or is this thread exceptionally so? Quote
Cubanmist Posted October 7 Posted October 7 Beane is responsible for putting the roster together. Sean is the coach who has to get his ***** together. Tired of hearing “it starts with me” bull####! Quote
Taro Nimbus Posted October 7 Posted October 7 When the Bills win, coaching and management are top tier in the fans eyes. When the Bills lose, fire them all. This board is bipolar. 1 Quote
Bermuda Triangle Posted October 7 Posted October 7 It pains me to defend McDermott, as I don't think he's a good Head Coach, but IMO, this mess is more Beane's handiwork. Failure to acquire high-end talent in the draft and FA (Allen aside). Poor asset allocation (underperforming picks and signings on the DL; THREE (yes, three) Day 2 picks on RB in 4 years) Poor FA signings Inexplicably ignoring the WR room annually (the fascination with 'blocking WRs' in free agency is quite strange to me). Neglecting the safety position, as it became clear that Poyer and Hyde were aging out (Hamlin should NOT be starting in the NFL) We are wasting another year of the prime of the best QB in franchise history. 5 hours ago, NC-billsfan! said: You don’t think hitting on Josh wasn’t a major coup? I hated the pick. Experts had at least three qbs above him. He’s a hall of famer in the making. He’s a wizard at mid round picks. We ran Polian out of town. How did that work out? Comparing Beane to Polian is a massive insult to Polian. Quote
billsfan714 Posted October 7 Posted October 7 i would say they both have their weaknesses. With McD you have questions about his game management and can he out coach a good team in the playoffs and especially when its gets to the final 8 teams. With Beane he's been kind of loose trading away picks and some of his signings can be questioned. To give Von that money, to a 32 year old speed rusher? Extend Knox then go into next draft and take a TE in the first? Even the Diggs trade, multiple picks for Diggs plus the money, or we could have kept our first and those extra picks and had Justin Jefferson on a rookie contract. 60 million in dead money this year, i mean thats a couple of stud players right there. Neither is without valid criticism. 1 Quote
