10/6/2024 - Bills at Texans 2nd half game thread.

For comparison’s sake, that long TD to Collins was complete because the ball had air and it was put over the proper shoulder (left). If it was Josh, it would’ve been thrown flatter and over his right shoulder, a yard or two long, and most here would blame the receiver.

Joe Brady is a marginal step up from his predecessor.  Defense gets a pass because we’re starting our 2nd string.  Josh is not comfortable behind this line, and Kincaid catches like Gabe Davis.  It’s like the early 2000’s again were the punter is the best player on the team.

Samuel is absolutely useless.  So put him and Mack on the outside and move Keon to the slot and try and get him away from Stingley and get him involved.

At the end of the day, we're getting far less from the talent we do have than we should be.

Diggs left the team in April.  They couldn't have figured anything out besides the Mack Hollins WR1 experience in 6 mo?

Cap prevented any serious WR signings.  Rob Peter to pay Paul situation.

Look.....Allen is off today so far.

BUT

This is way bigger than Josh Allen.  This is an overall lack of talent problem.  Our WRs STINK.  Outside of Shakir, we have nobody that can get open.  Samuel has been an embarrassment.  Coleman can't separate (every ball he catches is contested).  Hollins is awful.  MVS is a waste of money.  There is absolutely nobody on this team, outside of Allen that any team fears.  Cook is a fine player, but teams are not game planning for him out of fear.  Kincaid is an amazing talent that Brady has no idea how to use.

To me, this goes a lot deeper than the players.  This is on Beane and the front office.  All of us could see this coming.  They didn't.  Yes, Allen is great.  Maybe the best out there.  But he still needs talent to make plays for him.  I mean, look no further than the other sideline.  Collins is maybe the best WR in the league and that still wasn't good enough for them.  Their WR corps runs 4-5 deep.  Stroud is a good QB.  Maybe even a great QB.  Regardless, that team knew that you have to play to your strength and surrounded him with great weapons.  Not only is the WR group one of the best in the league, but the RB room is solid too.  They're hurt today (thank God, because we would be getting beat even worse than we are), but they do have talent there.

We are just outclassed on every level on offense against most teams outside of QB.  Beane needs to do something.  I know he is limited due to the cap, but we need a WR1 and a WR2.  Shakir is a great slot option and Coleman will make a great 4th WR.  But he needs 2 starting WRs because they are not on this team.  We have no speed and no downfield passing game.  Everything is within 10 yards of the LOS.  That should never happen when Josh Allen is your QB.

Allen isn’t even having a bad game (outside of that last drive).

He has been:

- Pressured on 80% of his throws.

- Had 4 balls dropped by WR’s. One of them was a TD.

- Has run some awful play calls by Brady.

Every QB starts to press when you have receivers not getting open, not catching when they are open, and linemen not blocking.

The problem is the O line.  And the WRs.  And the TEs can't catch (although Kincaid did get robbed).  And the play calling.  And the blocking scheme which worked until the Texans adjusted.  And and and...

Brady got the nod because McD has always wanted a good run game.  nobody prior to Brady was willing to commit to one.  now the passing game suffers because of it.
