Buffalo’s Best Stuffed Banana Peppers: Bobby J’s Italian American Grille

Stuffed banana peppers are a Western New York specialty, and Western New Yorkers have voted to say the stuffed banana peppers at Bobby J’s Italian American Grille are extra special.

“It’s really truly an honor,” said Bobby J’s co-owner Bob Desiderio about his restaurant’s Buffalo’s Best win. “I have to thank everyone from all over Western New York who voted for us!”

Those loyal customers keep demand high for the signature stuffed banana peppers.

On a typical Friday or Saturday, Bobby J’s serves up hundreds of them each night....

...They’re made with locally-made ricotta and several imported cheeses, plus bread crumbs, fresh basil, and garlic, cooked up to order in piping hot extra virgin olive oil and served with blistered grape tomatos and crusty Tuscan bread.

The banana pepper itself is grown on a local farm. The Desiderios describe them as “semi-hot”.

“Mother Nature plays games with them once in a while. Sometimes they can be a little bit hotter than other times,” pointed out Bob Desiderio.

“I like spicy food,” Jason Desiderio added. “So I mean once in a while they get pretty hot and when you put the roasted garlic on and the fresh Italian bread, it’s like a match made in heaven.”

The recipe has been handed down through the Desiderio family.....

I read this yesterday.  I do 2 versions. One with sausage & cheese and the other w/ bread crumbs, Romano, garlic, parsley, EVOO.

I was hoping to score some large Beef Ribs however they seem rare here because the butchers are using that bone in the Prime Rib Roasts.

Can get a beef rib rack but pretty expensive given most of the weight is in the bones themselves.

In any event. I have 3 very large skinless turkey breasts marinating since Wednesday in the back of the fridge and today I used a Rain Check on two large Pork Back Ribs that I rubbed Texas Stylee and pushed to the back of the fridge.

Going to throw them on the smoker Sunday Morning along with some Red Hot Peppers and a few Russet Potatoes.

Share the aromas with the neighbours while spending time with my 3 dogs -- Bills jerseys and scarfs on -- in the front yard watching peeps walk by the front sidewalk while blaring tunes.

Any side dish ideas?

What are you cooking?

I usually can’t eat or drink at all during the games. But You have inspired me!  Making ribs, buff chicken dip, and maybe some fried clams (the last for the heck of it).

I am getting tired of my great game meals being ruined by McCollapsy's incompetence.

I now have an upset stomach and it was NOT the meal.

I would suggest McCollapsy and I switch roles however you just know he would burn the meal and set himself on fire.

I ordered breakfast omelette. It made me red faced like Allen. Think it was food poisoning?

It was NOT the eggs and other ingredients.

It was the Cook/Chef/Coach.

Be thankful you got only red faced as opposed to red rash ass which is what the Bills are giving me these days.
