Cheektowaga Chad Posted October 5 Posted October 5 I think teams have realized that in order to win a super bowl you need to be healthy at the end of the season and that has teams be overly cautious early Load management in a sense Quote
HOUSE Posted October 5 Posted October 5 The people here believe every player on the team is top tier. If Baylon Spector has a sniffle it's 4-13 Quote

And an extra week means more load to manage AND and extra week to insulate against pure luck for a good team so the ability to make slightly more conservative choices early knowing the bad bounce effect is slightly reduced 2 Quote

We saw some horrific stories 20 years ago with what guys played through. While I still think guys play through terrible injuries - I also applaud missing time for head injuries now and bet at least a portion of guys are more apt to be cautious with joints, muscles etc healing properly? im not saying everyone or that it’s a bad thing but at the very least - I think there is some change around the margins there. The classic, would tua have missed weeks on end 30 years ago? Are there equivalents with other injuries? Probably. define the measurement of that, I suppose. are guys more injured or more willing to disclose injuries that were occurring, for instance? add in the game being faster and also played by bigger guys and…. The game is becoming more dangerous in the name of safety. It doesn’t get any more obvious. Quote

reddogblitz Posted October 5 Posted October 5 I don't know what the stats are on this but doesn't really seem any different to me. Football is a game of attrition. Always has been. Quote
US Egg Posted October 5 Posted October 5 (edited) While the Pro Bowl tackle did miss Wednesday's practice with this injury, his return to the field was a welcome sight for Buffalo's offense. It also gave Dawkins a chance to explain his injury more. “I’m going to tell you the truth, I thought about turning it off,” Dawkins said. “It was that painful. I just pushed through it and finish the game. “I think that, in this league, what comes with being one of the guys, and how they pay you, it sucks but you’ve got to be able to push through certain things “ An antiquated notion? I’d also love to see the evidence that slightly physically smaller players get injured much more 😂. Mekhi becton is enormous and he is hurt all the time I’d think if anything bigger taller guys get hurt more, more load on ligaments and tendons and such Edited October 6 by Generic_Bills_Fan Quote
