I am assuming you also feel he should not be in? I am going by their standards, if a punter can be in, Tasker should be in. 1 Quote
djp14150 Posted October 4 Posted October 4 If punters and kickers get in, Tasker should be seriously considered as a ST player 1 Quote

They've literally changed the rules to keep him out. By that I mean the special teams rules. 1 hour ago, Gugny said: I cannot wait till this ridiculous topic is put to bed. He’s not a Hall of Famer. mrags Posted October 4 Posted October 4 (edited) Nobody cares about Special Teams. The only people that do have warm feelings of Tasker in their glory years. Or people who had an infatuation for Hester or the likes of Hall. Nobody else cares. 1 hour ago, Gugny said: I cannot wait till this ridiculous topic is put to bed. He’s not a Hall of Famer. Nope. He’s not. And getting in on a seniors list is just kind of feels cheap doesnt it. Edited October 4 by mrags Quote

I can say this with certainty: there is not one Bills game - ever - after which I said, “Man … if it wasn’t for Tasker, we never would have won that game.” That, to me, is why he’s not even close to deserving a spot in Canton. 1 Quote
Let's Go Buffalo Posted October 5 Posted October 5 I'll always be rooting for Tasker to make it. Hopefully, sooner than later! 1 Quote

Would you ever apply the same litmus test to say, an offensive lineman? You know, the guys who never get their numbers called unless it’s for penalties? And yet plenty of those are in the Hall…or for another example, I loved James Lofton while he was with the Bills, and yet I don’t remember him taking over a game single handedly per se…and he’s in the Hall too. My point is just to say there’s more to whether or not a player “took over” a game by himself in determining Hall bona fides, imho. That said, Tasker made game changing, momentum spurring plays many many times, and revolutionized the impact of special teams in addition to being a switch blade WR—he was a dog of a football player, the best kind. 2 1 Quote
Cheektowaga Chad Posted October 5 Posted October 5 I think tasker gets in eventually but it's because of a combo of what he did as a player and as a contributor. He has worked for CBS/the bills pretty much since he retired The fact a lot of voters likely interact with tasker consistently during the season or have in the past with the story about how he changed special teams coverage and tactics. He will get in, when is another story Quote

MJS Posted October 5 Posted October 5 He deserves it and I think he'll get in one day. I know there are some posters here who say he doesn't. Well, I think they are dead wrong. Tasker was an inspiration for multiple generations of special teams players. He changed the game. He paved a path for others. He went to many pro bowls (they created a pro bowl spot for him because of how impactful he was). He was an elite, generational talent for his specific role. Watching his highlights is a real treat. 1 Quote

Steve Tasker really took special teams to a new level... I hope they both get in just cause they are Bills... I think Steve has the best shot obviously cause he made the cut. Sestak I just dont remember I was probably on the bottle with out booze when he played. LOL Sestak was simply a great DT. Sadly he was a shadow of his old self his last year or two due to shot knees. 1 Quote

Tasker IMO 100% should be in the Hall. Sestak deserves it more than any other Bill. He was the best player on the best defense in the AFL. Unlike Billy Shaw, Sestak was penalized for never playing in the NFL. He was one of the best AFL DTs ever and the cornerstone of the best defense the Bills ever had. Dominant, but he suffered serious knee injuries that cut his career short and forced his retirement right at the NFL merger. Quote

DT is my favorite player of all time, but he is not HOF My brain is a little foggy this morning and for some reason I thought you guys were referring to Derrick Thomas and I was about to say your nuts if you don't think he is a Hall of Famer lol...but then I realized you were talking about Talley and I agree. Wall of Famer for sure but not a HOF player. Quote

frostbitmic Posted October 5 Posted October 5 I'd love to see Tasker in the HOF but, once you've been out of the league and the spotlight for 20 + years, you're being passed up in the queue, rightfully or not by more recent players, and your contribution to the game becomes just a distant memory to fans of the team he played for and not many others. What happens here when he no longer makes the cut list of 60 players ? Quote
