transplantbillsfan Posted October 4 Posted October 4 Sorry if posted... I didn't see it. I came upon this buffalo rumblings article today: https://www.buffalorumblings.com/2024/10/3/24261159/buffalo-bills-josh-allen-quietly-renegotiated-his-contract-this-offseason Read it, but it cites this tweet by Mike Ginniti So basically... that restructure was in large part a way to give Allen fair compensation. Looking at those upcoming salaries, you can bet he's getting a new deal entirely in the offseason. 1 3 1 1 Quote

His contract is not getting extended or reworked until 2026, coincidentally when his cap hit balloons to $60M again. They will tack on more years and guarantees on and continue to restructure to keep his cap hit lower. 1 6 Quote

This Allens numbers next year are low to make the renegotiation in 2026 wide open if done before the year starts. 2 1 Quote
WotAGuy Posted October 4 Posted October 4 (edited) Gonna take him a lot longer to get to the bank, given he’s lost a step. Edited October 4 by WotAGuy 1 20 2 1 Quote
MJS Posted October 4 Posted October 4 (edited) They could have restructured him more, but wanted to keep a significant portion of his cap hit for this year. Allen is getting a bunch of money every year. They've been restructuring him and giving him a big bucket of cash each year they do so. He is not underpaid. Him and Mahomes have both been highly paid even though their APYs are technically lower. But Allen will get a reworked deal soon, just like Mahomes did. Edited October 4 by MJS 2 1 Quote
julian Posted October 4 Posted October 4 They needed to save for that giant Bronze statue of Allen leaping or the 30 foot Buffalo out front of the new stadium. Quote
78thealltimegreat Posted October 4 Posted October 4 Josh has a very low cap hit next year for two reasons 1 can renegotiate and not affect current structure of the team and 2 allows the Bills to actually play in free agency instead of just letting guys go anymore. In other words Beane did this deal with the idea of this truly being a “transition” year. Despite his waxing poetic about the signings of Curtis Samuel and well Curtis Samuel 1 Quote
GolfandBills Posted October 4 Posted October 4 His contract will be redone this offseason for sure Quote

BullBuchanan Posted October 4 Posted October 4 He's 2 years into a 6 year deal. Let it ride until the end. If he's still in decent shape by then, re-sign him or franchise. 3 Quote
