He, along with Esther Rolle, were the real stars of Good Times, Dyn-o-mite aside. 🙄
 

Their portrayals convincingly conveyed the family situation Norman Lear wanted America to see.

 

His was a pioneering type of roll as well as a TV show.

There have been so many false death posts on TwitterX I do not pay attention but Variety has it too.

I remember him more from Kunta Kinte in "Roots".  I watched Good Times occasionally but it was not a show which was memorable to me.
