I don't know if there are just not that many great teams anymore but each Sunday, there does not seem to be that marquee game. Having said that, how in the world do they put Ravens vs Bengals on at 1pm? That is the one non-Bills game I would have loved to have watched this year, ugh.

I think the league is in transition, a big transition, and teams haven't adjusted yet. The change from passing to running is dramatic. One result is that, as you suggest, there aren't many great teams. Maybe there are some great teams, but we don't know yet who they are. KC is 4-0, but other than the W-L they aren't looking great. Ravens are dominant, but teams will catch up to them. Nobody really believes that the Seahawks, the Bucs, the Commanders, the Steelers, even the Bills, are all that good.

Some of those teams are actually good; we just don't it yet. So, there are good matchups happening, but we don't understand yet which games they are. More importantly, the networks don't understand either, so they don't know which games to showcase.

Wait six weeks. Then, there'll be a few teams with two losses, and we will know which games are the good ones.

There's a good bet that three of the good games will be Bills-Chiefs, Bills-49ers, Bills-Lions.

So you want better matchups on Sundays, but aren’t happy that Ravens v Bengals are on Sunday?

No, I said that the Ravens Bengals matchup is the game of the week so why in the world are they putting it on at 1pm????

what was weird too, week 2 they put texans/bears and falcons/eagles in the prime time slots over the chiefs/bengals matchup.

All you need is 3, maybe 4 good to great matchups per week.  We already have the Bills game no matter who they are playing.  I looked forward to Seattle vs Detroit last night and it was a fun game.  There's usually a few of those per week.

I think there are a lack of superstars in the NFL today, especially at the QB position, but also at the WR position.

are markets that big a thing for prime time anymore?

I’m sure people are tuning in droves, just as much if not more to watch a chiefs/bengals matchup than a texans/bears or falcons/eagles.

not a chide question, actually asking.

Why not is the real question.  For those of us who get up at 5 at the latest, the 1pm games are gems.  4 pm is great as well.  Night games are a bear for some of us especially on tough days where I’m at 4 am.

Thats just me.  It’s also why I use my sons student I’d for the ticket and only pay $200 for the year on YouTube as it’s a lot less than a season of games at a sports bar.

I actually think it's the opposite of this.  I think there are still plenty of superstars(especially at the WR position) but there's not a lot of great teams anymore.  Salary cap, injuries etc...Parity!

Bengals suck at 1-3. Why do you want to watch them?

lol, what?  you posted this bemoaning the fact that there are no big games on sunday any more.

They put it at 1 pm so there would "be that marquee game" and "great NFL matchup" for you to watch.

I’m not sure how much flexing the OP looking for. Week to week? Every week? That would be a nightmare for teams, networks and most importantly the in-stadium fans.

The problem is that there are now three non-Sunday afternoon games each week (Thursday, Sunday and Monday night). And recently there have been TWO Monday night games. That right there significantly waters down the potential ‘marquee’ matchups available on Sunday afternoons.

Add to that the fact that the traditional late afternoon games by default have to feature Pacific/Mountain time zone teams. Those teams (49ers, Chargers, Rams, Cardinals, Raiders, Broncos, and Seahawks) all pretty much stink this year, with the exception of San Francisco and maybe Seattle…and many believe the jury is still out on them.  It’s a built in recipe for challenging programming in the late afternoon time slot.

As with most things, it’s not complicated!

To follow up on my point above, just look at this week. The Pacific time zone has the Rams, Seahawks, Broncos and 49ers all hosting home games. The only decent team there are the 49ers and they have the lackluster Cardinals in town. Does anyone care? Probably not, but the NFL isn’t going to have those teams play at 10:00am!

Huh?? They put those marquee games on at 4:30 and 8:30, not 1pm with 10 other games being played at the same time.

The ‘problem’ is that there are FOUR west coast teams playing at home this weekend. Take a look at the upcoming weeks and you’ll find that this is rarely the case.
