In what world would a Seany led team ever run an alternate defense?  They are who they are until the head coach is let go (~10 years from now) - a base 4-2-5 defense.

He switched it up some vs the ravens in the playoffs.  iirc, taron played 60% and Klein played 40%.

It was getting out of nickel alignment that was part of our problem on Sunday.

The biggest problem was getting outnumbered in the box so often.  I’m fine with the nickel as long as we have a somewhat stacked box.

Can he run routes and get separation?

More like, can he pass block?  That was the biggest problem according to Marino.  I’ve yet to watch the all-22, but it’s Mario’s opinion that there was separation but the IOL was getting whooped and didn’t handle the transitions well

That 2020 first quarter was dicey - then the Ravens started getting cute.  If they just stuck with the bread and butter runs, that game would have ended differently.

His preference is to stay in the nickel until it doesn't work.  I don't understand that mentality, because if it doesn't work you just gave up points.  Why wait for someone to punch you in the mouth?  Why intentionally give up hundreds of lbs of tackling muscle?  It always feels like some rope-a-dope wrestling mind trick mentality, when many times football is just straight ahead hats on hats.

Basically I'm not a fan.  I understand Jerry Glanville wasn't the most successful coach ever, but he'd either knock the crap out of a team or get burnt like toast.  No in-between bleed you to death with a million paper cuts stages.  As a fan, that's what hurts the most - slowly watching time & yards bleed away.

Yea I think the five DL front would have been an interesting look but it is something you generally use against outside zone. In the end the Ravens did more outside zone that you'd typically expect but I suspect that is why the Bills didn't have it in the plan. They had some 43 in there clearly which is what you'd usually go to against a up the gut type rushing attack which is what they were likely expecting more of from them, the problem is they don't have the personnel to win playing a 43 when they are down their normal entire second level. I think if we'd spent the whole game in the 43 we ran on drives 2 and 3 we might have held them to only 70 or 80 yards after that first big run.... but we'd have given up 200 yards in running back pass game. Justice Hill had a career high 78 receiving yards. I'm willing to listen to the five man DL look but just switching up to something you rarely do and likely rarely practice mid game would likely have failed. Do I think the Bills got outcoached, yes, obviously. But I think you sometimes just have to hold your hands up and say the opposition had a fantastic plan, executed brilliantly and had the superior talent and when all three are true you are going to struggle.

I'd argue they don't have the personnel to run a base 4-3 at their healthiest.  Teams that can run the ball and limit mistakes will be a problem all year.

If your three LBs are Williams, Bernard, and Milano, they could absolutely run a 4-3. They’ll still give up rushing yards because all three are light, but each guy can run and cover. You’d see a much better result than what we saw on Sunday.

I need Logue to put on about 30 pounds of functional weight and channel his inner Mt. Ted Washington.

I like that we didn't wait until December to make a move like this.

He might already be better than DT's on team not named Oliver or Jones

I'm wondering who the falcons have on the active roster that kept this guy on the practice squad....

It don't matter who they have, it's how they play them. When will they have the balls to run a 5 man dline ...or something like Lorax lining up there? How about some stunts once in a while?
