Josh definitely has a tendency to bail early when he doesn't quite know what he is seeing. That is because he is still an athlete first and a processor second. That isn't to say he is a bad processor before anyone jumps on it. But I just think he is still more comfortable relying on his body than his mind when things get messy.

that playcall was so out of the ordinary and in my judgement did not count as a standard pass blocking play to be graded. no one on the OL was graded on that play accordingly

Also all the defenders that got into the backfield pretty quickly despite not blitzing.

Yea. I thought Allen had a pretty poor game. I’m just surprised at this point of his career he and the OL looks that lost.
 

Minshew tore them up in BAL. 30/38 275+ 1 td annd 1 int. And Allen goes 16/29 180 and zero. I repeat zero tds

 

btw Brock Bowers TE. A rookie. Goes 9 for 98 , 11 yards per catch. 
 

Very disappointing offensive performance.

Thanks for the breakdown.  

 

OL is the hardest position to make the transition from college to pro, outside of QB.  Just speculating, but I just don't think Torrence was mentally ready for 17 games+playoffs, and now he's not confident.  He's a country kid from a college program that is waaaaay in the wilderness compared to their glory years.  Must have been quite the shock to go pro, and he's not outspoken / cocky at all.  As much as Brown has his own issues, he's a physical specimen and is not afraid to speak his mind.

He started off really well but kinda slowly went downhill later in the season.  I thought he looked very good first half of last year too.  Hopefully he can get it back together shortly.

I was excited when we drafted him reasonably early.

 

I was impressed with his play last year as a rookie.

 

However, he certainly has taken a step back this year when he should be improving after a year of NFL diet, weight room, video watching and coaching.

it doesnt appear to be a strength issue. He is quite powerful in run blocking and i don't believe i've seen him bull rushed. He's not very good with his hands and has trouble moving laterally. I think its a technique issue.. and maybe an awareness issue.
