The terrible-

This defensive line once again against real good teams continues to be non existent, the bengals at home, the Chiefs countless times, the only player to come up big once was Baylon Specter. This is unacceptable from a former DC, how can this continue to be a problem? Where is Ed Oliver, Dajuan Jones is yet another bust along the DL, Groot was hardly noticeable, Epenesa is non existent. What is this defense? I don't want injury excuses, these guys never show up against teams like this and until it's rectified I don't think this team is ever making it to a SB.

This. These guys DISAPPEAR against the elite teams.

I’m not too concerned about the loss.. although it was an old fashioned bum kicking …

Would love to have seen what might have transpired if Coleman makes that catch in the first half and they don’t call the trick play … they were two killer moments when they had something going …

Anyway … onto Diggs … they should be coming out motivated for that one !

Might haves / ifs are meaningless.

they didn’t happen.

Well we needed to replace 2 safeties and will need another WR next year as 2 of our guys are on 1 year deals and only here because we have $31m in dead cap going to a WR playing on another team.

It’s not like we need to draft a WR and S to replace the ones we just took.

we will need at least 2 wideouts because 3/5 of the room will no longer be here i think

I don't agree with the positive assessment of Coleman's performance.  And btw I wasn't against the Coleman pick.  But that drop was huge and inexcusable.

This is a guy who's not a great separator but supposedly makes up for it with his catch radius and ability to make contested catches.  He didn't make a comparatively easy catch that could have made a big difference.

Great players make game-changing plays.  He potentially had the chance to make one and literally dropped the ball.  Disappointing.

I hope he has better days ahead of him.

It's one game folks.  To maybe the best team in the AFC.   Remember last season when a really good Detroit Lions team went in to Baltimore in late October and were down 35-0 in the third quarter? They lost 38-6.   It happens.  And then the Lions went on to the NFC Championship and should have beaten the 49ers.   It's a tough stadium when the Ravens D and Lamar's O get going.

The Bills were slapped back into reality.  They will be better for it. The rest of the AFC teams are really nothing special and/or really injured.

Last night was tough pill to swallow.  But I choose to see the glass as half full, maybe even a little more than that.  Here are some positives:

1.  The sun came up this morning

2. The Bills are 3-1 at the quarter pole (I realize that the 17th game screws up the math, but close enough)

3. Taron Johnson and Bernard will be back soon

4. The butt-kicking by the Ravens should give the coaches a great idea of their deficiencies are with plenty of time to correct them

5.  The rest of the Bills' division includes the lowly Patroits, now-lowly Dolphins, and middling (at best) Jests

6. Josh Allen is still on the team

This is a well-reasoned post.  The Super Bowl Bills used to go to KC every year on a Monday night (back when KC was not the Mahomes/Reid KC teams of today) and get crushed and then would respond and finish out the season strong.  Football is a game of momentum and the Bills never had it.  If the Bills had scored on their opening possession, the entire tempo of the game would have been different.  Likewise, had they scored on the ill-fated possession with the trick play, they would have cut the deficit to 4 (or 7) and had all of the momentum.  As it turned out, those things didn't happen and the game got out of hand.  It happens in pro football.  The Ravens are a very good team that was desperate for win and were hyped up for a prime-time game at home.  The Bills were not.

Disagree with this. The big play was all Josh Allen being a unicorn. Other than that he was having trouble separating because the Ravens wisely put a true CB on him. Shakir still is not a separator IMO. He's a YAC specialist that needs to get the ball in space. You can't run the passing offense through him.

No pass rush because our guys couldn't win their matchups... Ed Oliver has been almost a non factor as a pass rusher this season. One big play against the Dolphins, invisible otherwise. Rousseau is maddening with his inconsistency from game to game. He should have had a big advantage going against a struggling rookie tonight and instead got swallowed up. Von is meant to be our closer, he is not going to have consistent impact through a game. Epenesa is a JAG. Rousseau and Oliver are supposed to be our guys up front and they didn't ever make Lamar uncomfortable tonight despite facing a middling OL.

The defensive gameplan was the issue. Anytime we play Lamar, we have the dline playing contain, not rushing the passer, to account for his running abilities.

But with Derrick Henry back there too, we shouldn't have been doing that.. From the start, it should have been run blitz and create disruption since DH will literally run through you if you don't blitz and get there early. When we finally switched to that, they started to stall. But the game was already out of hand (barring a few miracles from our pedestrian offense).

Dan Fetes said on the buffalo plus postgame yesterday that Cook was livid on the sideline after they ran the option/trick play.

He had every right to be.  They were moving guys up front and he was just getting going and then they run one of the worst plays ever, pinning down the focal point of the offense in a corner with 4 unblocked guys running full speed at him.  It was awful.

I hope cook has a huge game this week.

Cook was 9/39 last night

yes but it was the third quarter and he was just getting started.  If they dont run that play and he gets maybe 10 more carries and they make it a game or comeback to win he might have ended up with like 17 or 20 for 100 or so yards and maybe a TD.

You could literally see the difference, the line was finally getting push and he was going through the holes like he normally does.  Then they killed it on a bad play.

that was obvious 10 minutes in, why wait until halftime to make the switch?  But that's McDermott, gonna to what we planned to do, no matter what.

Hamlin is a bad safety, once the strength of the defense is now our biggest weakness

But he did catch that ball that Trevor threw directly into his numbers. So that’s a cool story. 🙄

I’m thinking with Rapp suffering a concussion Bishop steps in as the starter and never looks back.

In essence, Rapp was “Wally Pipped” last night…

Maybe you can invoke Pipp's name when Bishop has a few high level seasons in the NFL like a certain NYY HOF 1B did from the late 1920s to late 30s.

You can't replace every hole on your team in one offseason, especially one where you have Von's (should be final year) contract and $31M in dead cap going to a player not on the team.  And lets not pretend this board would not have melted down they had drafted 2 safeties or that any of you wanted us to draft 2 safeties.  They signed Edwards, retained Rapp, and drafted Bishop with also the possibility Hyde might return.  Edwards and Rapp are serviceable for this season where I expect them to probably add another young player in the draft or maybe look at FA again with the better cap situation next year.

And at WR I think the plan is pretty clear, to build through the draft.  There obviously wasn't another one they were high enough on after Coleman to where they were BPA on Beane's board or they would have taken one, Beane said so himself.  That doesn't preclude them from continuing to add to the room in the next draft.

No one ever said they did "enough" at those positions as if they are done moving forward.

Bright Spots:

1) DeWayne Carter made some great plays on the goal line stand.

2) I think we will see our offensive scheme morph some now. It has to expand beyond the short stuff, and I think it will now.

I noticed DC too... I like the possibilities with him....
