Take a look at the board of United Way of SWVA.  These are all local folks with the majority of their friends and family in the region.  They care.  Other regional United Ways are similar.  What did the United Way do to you?

They shot my brother, kidnapped my sister, and took my bubblegum.

Overall the United way is not the best organization. Even locally they have to give 10% of what they bring in to the big wigs. It usually comes via corp. donation

Be careful out there.

I've been watching radar all day. That's not accurate.  Flight radar 24 app and more have it real time.

I know 2 people on the board.   They're both solid R's and solidly committed to their community.  They know where to send the money.  They're plugged in and smart as whips.  I have no idea where the 10% comes from.  They're all volunteers x at the administrative level (and they aren't wealthy).  Meet in a  hospital boardroom or community college or church probably.  Never been part.  But. give them a break.  These are great people doing good things.

So you are a better authority than the FAA or the North Carolina Department of Transportation Division of Aviation?

"There were approximately 30 mid-air close calls over North Carolina on Saturday, Sept. 28, as relief efforts ramped up in response to Hurricane Helene, a federal official briefed on the matter confirmed to CBS News Friday."

"The Federal Aviation Administration and the North Carolina Department of Transportation, say air traffic over Western North Carolina has increased by 300% due to relief efforts since the storm cleared. "

Yes, douchebag. At the least I'm a better authority than you. And your links from someone who put the info in an AI database to make an article.

Look at the image. Your link doesn't work, so I googled it.

I'm going to rip you a new hole in the back, apologies to your boyfriend...

Not one article quoted an FAA official giving a number. The articles all say there were 30 but not quoted. This is significant because the FAA will investigate each to see if it is a close call.

The image shown is absolutely bull#### because flights over 5k are included. Commercial airlines. Those are things that fly high and would be no where near these relief planes.

Next we look at the source he offered, an image not accurate for anything but Saturday in the immediate relief efforts.  And even then, it's not a great image. In that time you had people doing anything they could to help. People trained with flying and licensed to do so. Your sorry ass can drive a motor vehicle and didn't even try to do ***** down there. So, these brave pilots did more than most officials did and went in to do anything they could... But, I suppose like Joe, you don't care about them because they're just poor country folks who aren't worth it.

Next, let's take a look ...you took random Twitter guys word for it but not the other guy up thread. Confirmation bias runs strong in you.

I will pause so you can Google that definition. Also, to let you contemplate blocking me because this can go on for years.

Either way, back to the subject at hand. You see, Baskin Robbins has many flavors and each one is distinguishable. These flavors make it a better experience than the algorithms of flavor cold stone has or other such venues. Simply good ice cream.

So, now we look at you quoting an article which doesn't exactly quote the speaker. I've seen the video and they say investigating... Which means it could be many things. And if you know aviation then I can just tell you I have a number for you to call. Let me know when you're ready. (If you get that reference you probably listen to ATC like I do when you're bored). But, that doesn't mean anything, at least not yet. Further, the increased number of flights in and around were there to help people. I suppose when people go in to help someone it's hard to always maintain 15 miles or 3 minutes of separation. I'm sure all of these people who somehow have the ability to to get airplanes and helicopters are no smarter than you and don't know a thing about being safe.

But, to my final point? Aren't we lucky nothing happened? Aren't we lucky that they were able to save people?

I get the feeling you'd have celebrated and stuck your nose up should one of those rescue efforts have failed and people died. "I told you that it was dangerous!11one" you'd surely type on your reddit channel.

Non profit status enables up to 10% for the specific charter of the Red Cross. The business entity of the red cross takes in 10%. They also make money on the resale of. I'm going off of memory here but I know it's over $1.5b that the red cross makes by selling free blood to hospitals. Over 75% of their operating budget is produced from selling blood.

Well, I guess they give you donated oranges, a sticker, and some water...

bitter oranges.  wtf man, they're are good people other than your favored helpers.  And I'd wager they're more effective.

elitism to the max.  but still a crying shame.  It's a monument to capitalism and greed.  Open to the public again who knows when.

It's way too expensive. I just have no interest in going. Ever.

And responding to your other post the $2b operational cost all made back by volunteers giving blood to be sold back to us in a hospital for 10x the rate. ... That's your capitalism.

dude, plenty of people give blood gratis.  red cross is not the only source.  but go ahead, make altruism bad.  unless you own a helicopter...I saw the Chilhuly exhibit weeks before the flood.  f'in spectacular.  Lots of everyday folks did.  I'm hoping the glass wasn't broke but if so I'm sure the artist will make it right.

The mansion wasn't badley impacted. The video I shared above is above lake lure, mostly in bat cave below chimney rock. Check that out if you haven't.  Not much from swva has been show yet.

It’s bad enough for sure. People have lost their homes and businesses. I think most will stay. Where is safer?

In less than 16 hours there was more than $2,500 of material donated at my wife's hospital for her to take up on sunday. I'm hoping this momentum doesn't abruptly end.

Make that $5,000. My mother-in-law's neighborhood dropped off a whole bunch of stuff at her house.

“They’re being treated very badly in the Republican areas,” Trump told Fox News, ignoring reports and photo and video evidence of recovery efforts underway throughout the region. “They’re not getting water, they’re not getting anything.”

Conspiracy theorist Alex Jones endorsed Trump’s fact-free allegation. Jones, the founder of InfoWars, popularized the idea that the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting in Connecticut that killed 20 children in 2012 was faked. “Exclusive: Victims of Hurricane Helene Confirm The Federal Government is Purposely Blocking Rescuers and Stealing Aid In an Attempt to Keep Deep Red Areas From Voting,” Jones posted Thursday on X.

Ya'll are in good company with Jones and trump.  be proud....
