Savage Posted September 27 Posted September 27 Considering how much $$ some of these other jokers are making per year, how much will JA17 be making per year when he signs a new contract / renegotiated present contract? 80 mil per year? the way QB contracts are trending, doesn’t seem out of range, but crazy none the less. Toledo Bill Posted September 27 Posted September 27 If there was ever a QB that would take a “team friendly deal” (like Brady) it would be Josh. Not getting my hopes up, though. 4 Quote
Savage Posted September 27 Author Posted September 27 But, you’d have to think it’s going to be close to $80 mil per year? Quote
BearNorth Posted September 27 Posted September 27 Josh is taking home $60MM in cash this year, some ridiculous roster bonuses starting in 2026. He's not hurting. 2 Quote

And if he leaves the team cap room so they don’t suck, maybe he can win some Super Bowls and be even more marketable off the field. 1 Quote
QB Bills Posted September 27 Posted September 27 80 is probably still an underpay for him. Look at some of these jobbers making 50+. Quote
NoHuddleKelly12 Posted September 27 Posted September 27 Put the title in the form of a Jeopardy answer maybe?🤔 Quote
GolfandBills Posted September 27 Posted September 27 It will be more than Prescott for sure. It’s probably going to happen next offseason too 1 Quote

So it’s comments like these that always make the players the bad guys. Just because he’s not hurting for money or because his girlfriend makes a lot of money does not mean he shouldn’t get paid what he is worth. Do we all hope he will take a discount, of course but that doesn’t mean he should. It’s not Allen’s job (or any player for that matter) to make sure everything works under the cap. It’s his job to be the best QB he can be and then get compensated fairly in accordance to his peers. If Josh wants $70 million a year no one should hold that against him. The GMs and front office people are also paid a lot of money to make these things work, so let them earn their money as well. I swear being an NFL owner is the best gig in the world. You get to make billions of dollars and when a player wants to make more money somehow they are the bad guy, not you 1 1 Quote

He routinely took a discount, which allowed him to win 6 Superbowls and get a TV contract for another $300 million. Who do you think made more money overall? Brady or the highest paid QB's of his time (Vick, Rothlesburger, Rivers, Stafford). If Josh wins a Superbowl and marries Hailee Steinfeld he will likely make more outside of football than he ever will with the Bills. TV, commercials, endorsements, movies. Sky's the limit. He would be wise to make sure the team can afford the talent around him to make it happen. Quote
Freddie's Dead Posted September 27 Posted September 27 I posted this the other day. 7yr, $500M, 2fiddyM GTD. It'll be like when we signed him to $42M, cheap AF. Quote
Sweats Posted September 27 Posted September 27 You don't think our FO hasn't already considered this? JA will get his payday, for sure and he deserves every penny of it, however, by aligning the roster with young players on rookie contracts all but guarantees a little money left over to fill in holes on the roster, gives us a chance to compete and still pays JA. Everyone complains if they don't make a big splash in FA, but if the current roster of rookies and low wage contracts can carry the load, then maybe our FO isn't doing such a bad job in looking long term to ensure we still have JA on the roster and a decent team around him. If he takes less money, what’s going to stop teams from telling all of their players to take less money? And if he doesn’t take less money, there will be 50 threads on here talking about how his contract is crippling the team blah blah blah and people will start turning on him. We are all fans of the team and we want the team to do well and that’s why the players end up being the enemy. Fans have no loyalty to the players but then get upset if the players seemingly show no loyalty to the team. Would it be really nice if he took less? Yes obviously, but Beane is paid a lot of money too, make him earn it as well, that’s all I’m saying Quote
