The Firebaugh Kid Posted September 27 Posted September 27 Matt Milano is the best player on the defense when healthy. You start him no matter what. Quote

In any event, can't afford 3 top LBs when we need to pay Bernard, Williams and Milano. 16 hours ago, NoSaint said: what will we do? We will have 3 good undersized guys that will each likely get nicked up with their aggressive play plus a nickel corner in the same boat. I’d guess they will very much appreciate the depth and regularly need it I think you keep until you have to pay multiple, or unless a reasonable trade offer comes along. Def do not cut and have dead cap. Quote
BuffaloMatt Posted September 27 Posted September 27 Would be another feather in Beane's cap if he turns out to be special! Quote

Anyway, there is always someone injured, so problems like this one often sort themselves out. Btw we have similar "problem" with our boundary CBs right now. I am pretty sure that Elam would be more than serviceable NFL starter, but we might never know the way how Douglas and Benford are playing. I have to imagine they will let Douglas walk in FA and look to resign Benford. Draft a guy to compete with Elam and go from there. 3 1 Quote

Draft a bunch on day 3 (Milano, Spector, etc.) then when their contracts are up say thank you for your service and get a comp pick to rinse & repeat Quote
Billsfan585 Posted September 27 Posted September 27 I’d look into trading him before he gets injured again. Quote
colin Posted September 27 Posted September 27 they drafted edmunds, milano, bernard, and wiliams to replace and fill in for each other. as much as mcd has his guys and is a loyal type, his history shows his d is about the line first and foremost, and he signed hardy who was a monster but a petulant man in carolina, and let norman walk. also, his d was hurt more there when hardy went down than when luke k was injured the one year, and people look at luke k like a hall of famer, and a super highly drafted MLB. they let edumnds walk to a huge contract in chicago, and cut poy and tre white when they were too broke down to play. the bottom line is i think this FO is a bit more ruthless on the defensive back end than they might seem, and if milano is hurt again, he's likely cut as soon as it is cap efficient to do so. if he comes back this season, my expectation is he competes for the starting role and if he's actually healthy he makes a huge positive impact. 2 Quote
Bookie Man Posted September 28 Posted September 28 Maybe play more 4-3? But then you take Taron off the field more. Quote
Alphadawg7 Posted September 28 Posted September 28 I liked the Dorian pick when we made it, and I have liked what I have seen from him thus far. But I need to see more than 3 games before anyone starts talking about him starting over Milano when Milano is back. I don't know what the contract details are of Milano are, but I would think if Dorian does keep playing at a high level it is going to make Milano's future here murky at the very least. He is on the wrong side of 30, injuries are becoming an issue, and is more expensive. 1 Quote
ChronicAndKnuckles Posted September 28 Posted September 28 Milano is sooo fantastic when he’s healthy. If he wasn’t injury prone he would’ve went down as the GOAT. I am hoping he makes a full recovery and becomes a key cog in our SB run, but TBH the injuries are really starting to get too frequent. A good LB can play into their mid 30s especially those w/ super natural instincts. Hopefully he turns it around like Von (knock on wood.) Def my favorite player along w/ Taron Johnson who is normally Superman, but also out! I want to see this old guard of defensive players who have been here since the beginning of the McD era win a Lombardi. Quote
K-9 Posted September 30 Posted September 30 The Henry run is the reason Williams has a long way to go before he's Milano caliber. Quote
