I can't believe I'm saying this, but I would not trade for him.

If the WR's in general start to struggle or someone gets hurt...I'd reconsider

But, why bring in a personality who could potentially cause issues if only targeted 2-4 times a game

Hopkins IMO isn't a guy who will help that.  At least not right now 

Josh currently is throwing to whoever he wants on any given play.

 

There is ZERO need to acquire someone that makes him feel that he must target them ____ amount of times per game

Beane isn't if we lose more than we win before the trade deadline and are around .500.  He'll make a move whether it's for a WR or another position of need.

 

BTW, if we lose three straight (we're playing way better defenses) this idea is going to be a lot more popular.  We'll see 100 page threads on Hopkins, Adams, Cooper and maybe even Diontae Johnson.  I'm glad they pushed the trade deadline back a week.

Let’s see how the offense is in about 3-4 weeks before we start talking trade.  But I would be very interested in Hopkins coming here. I really want to see Samuel be more involved as I thought he’d be out yards leader this year

Cap space is everything. Can any of these guys fit under this years cap, let alone future cap? Josh is going to eat more and more cap as time goes and we will need to spend wisely. Have a few one year WR contracts and Douglas is a FA next year.

 

2025 is an issue for sure. AJ, Rousseau, Cook, Bernard, Shakir, Spector are all due.  I don’t see how we fit all these and Allen and a star WR.

 

The only guy I’d want out of the list is Adam’s. Can still ball.  Hopkins does nothing for me.  Just don’t think a highly paid FA WR is on Beane’s wish list. See us spending on D and riding Josh.

I’ve loved the first three weeks, but knowing what we know about those teams now - and not based on preseason hype - we’ve beat three pretty bad football teams.

I would not unless someone gets hurt or we start to see struggles as teams get more tape on the offense.  The chemistry of this team is through the roof right now, especially with Allen and the receivers.  Everyone is committed to all the little things and dirty work too and our offense is a function of the sum of all the parts.  And adding anyone else into that right now is a risk IMO that isn't worth taking unless we can see a need for said player.

If we add Hopkins, and everyone else were playing better than him, that would still be a good thing.  If he upgrades the spot at all, or steps in for an injured player, that is a good thing.   Its a ridiculous question though without discussing compensation.  Would I trade a 2025 fith or sixth, yes.  First or second, no.
