I'm not trying to be mean but dude we gotta live in reality.

I like Solomon's potential and his athletic archetype. He has some hugh Douglas, James Harrison potential imo. I think he's a potential breakout candidate next year and I'd like to get him a few more reps now.

But dude....

Go back and watch the first series vs Detroit. Von Miller completely blew past Sewell ( maybe the best lineman in the NFL) and got a huge pressure.

He's not prime Von anymore but he is still very valuable as a pass rush specialist and can be critical in a playoff run pressuring the QB, getting a sack etc.

Like his presence alone with Groot keeps QBs from taking long traditional drop backs.

We need to actually live in reality. I think Von is rated like 19th out of 200+ eligible edge rushers in pass rush productivity. He was big vs KC too ... His pff pass rusher grade is 75. He's been very effective for us this year in a limited role. He's here to be a closer in the playoffs.

Von Miller even at his age now is still a legitimate top 10-15ish pass rusher. He can beat you in so many different ways and we absolutely need him to win the super bowl imo.

Some of the Von disrespect is frickin bizarre and wild

I almost prefer him more this year than 22.  Sure he threatened the edge more but was often pushed past the pocket.  Utilizing a more power rush has helped the overall pass rush imo.  Vs Mahomes that style is much better.  I think Solomon is developing into a pass rush specialist.  Having that off the edge down the stretch is important.  With less than power house offenses I would give Solomon an extended run and play Miller sparingly these last few weeks.

yeah I thought Von was pretty good but not game changing against Detroit, then realized he was occupying Sewell all night.

I would like to see a front with Von and Solomon outside and Rousseau/ Oliver inside sometimes on obvious passing downs.

Solomon has been pretty solid considering where he was drafted and where he was drafted from.  Slightly undersized, but has all the pass rush tools you look for.  I have watched some of his tape specifically this season, and from the limited reps he gets, there is a lot to like, especially heading into the future.  The most encouraging thing he shows is that he doesn't just rely on one pass rush move to get home.  Sure, he is a speed guy and that is where he will hang his hat most of the time, but he has flashed other moves to win which is usually the knock on a lot of speed rushers.  Many times guys come into the league because they can win with speed, but as soon as the tackles figure out you don't have a counter, guys get in trouble.  I definitely think having Von on this team has been great for him.  You can see when he plays that he has adopted some of Von's teachings.  He has shown Von's famous "ghost" move, a nice swim move, and a spin move.  His bull rush isn't too bad either.

That said, he isn't a perfect player.  He has lost contain in the run game at times and he has missed some tackles.  There have been multiple times this season he has beaten his man badly, but hasn't finished the play.  There have been at least 2 or 3 instances I can think of where he has had the QB dead to rights but hasn't gotten him on the ground.  So, his tackling/finishing needs work, but he definitely has flashed some potential this season.

Not that I don't think he won't have an impact the rest of this season, because I definitely believe he will, but this will be an important off season for him.  He will have had a great taste of what the NFL is about and what he needs to work on.  Like I said, he has shown the tools, but this off season will be a great opportunity for him to work on the little things to help him finish those plays next season.  But yeah.....overall, there are reasons to be excited that this guy can turn into a player for us for years to come if he continues to work on his craft.  The talent is there.  May depend on how much of a worker he is.

I’m living in the reality where Von Miller has 9 tackles and 4 sacks for the entire season (and 3 of those sacks were in the first 3 games where the Bills blew out their opponents and Miller could just pin his ears back and rush in obvious passing downs).

I don’t know about his “grades” relative to other pass rushers, but I’m not really seeing it.

What I do see is him way overshooting the QB and doing a loop around on his pass rushes. Maybe the graders are counting those as pressures?

In an entire season he’s made approximately zero plays that have impacted the outcome of the game. But I guess you live in a different reality.

He literally had a bull rush and sack late in the Cardinals game that was a critical stop and helped us win lol.

He had multiple pressures and sacks that closed out the dolphins game

The jags game he had a sack that closed the game.

He then got suspended 4 the games.

He then had a sack , multiple pressures and dominated in the KC game and was literally a big reason we won.

Yes you're living in a different reality

The eye test, his metrics, his analytic grades all point to a high level pass rusher

He's not prime Von anymore. He's here as a savvy veteran pass rusher to close out teams in the playoffs and win the super bowl. Similar to a Reggie White or DeMarcus Ware at the end of their career

He's not here to get 20 sacks and play 70-80% of the snaps.

Ah the sack vs Arizona where Murray fell over... Von is washed. I don't hate on the decision to sign him. It was a calculated risk. Sadly it hasn't worked out with the injury. 3 more regular season games, a playoff run and then he is gone. Hopefully he ends holding the Lombardi he was brought to be the final piece for.

If you don't think Von is critical to our success or you don't think he's rushing the passer at a high level i have to seriously question your knowledge of football.

He absolutely has had moments of old Von Miller and dominated.

Ummm no. This is what I mean by delusional

Von Bull rushed the tackle into Murray and Murray tripped. Von then tagged him down.

We can all watch the tape bro

Go rewatch the KC game

We'll definitely draft dline next year but Von will be back again as a situational pass rusher.

You know why? Because it's extremely hard to find anyone that can still rush the passer at that level.

Will Beane try it again with Khalil Mack in free agency this offseason?    It's going to be a storyline here on TSW.

I've watched the tape. The pocket was squeezed by multiple rushers, not just Von, Murray tripped up and Von tapped him. Gimme play and no more than that.

Von’s got a better than solid pressure rate imo and when he gets pressure it happens very quickly.  I’m not sure id have to look too hard to find him impacting a game in a big moment.

Obviously his time so far has been disappointing with the injury then the useless 2023 so he’s gotta really apply the wow factor to get back in people’s good graces that is totally understandable.  I think he’s been good but not special so far this year which is a monumental improvement over last year

limited sample size but what looks like it’s holding Solomon back is losing the edge on runs.

Von literally bull rushed Kelvin Beachum into Murray. It's why he tripped. It was a dominant vintage Von power rush.

He then had vintage speed and dip rushes vs Miami and in the KC game.

We'll agree to disagree.

I guarantee you that Playoff Von Miller is going to be dominant in the playoffs and he's going to be playing 50-60% of the snaps in the playoffs

Ironically if Von played 80-85% of the snaps and was not suspended. He probably gets 12-15 sacks

That's not why he's here

There is ZERO chance Miller would have got 12 to 15 sacks this year. Zero point Zero.

Thanks, that actually got a belly laugh out of me. He's playing at a below replacement level. Plug in a league average starter at DE and it would be an improvement.

None of the data says that. We just disagree bro.

Let's hope he helps us win the super bowl

The eye test and data disagree with you

Well, he's going to get a lot more snaps now with Toohill gone. I'm excited too. The playoffs are looming and they wouldn't let an experienced veteran go if they didn't see real promise in the rookie. I mean, all he did was make 33 sacks at Troy. Not too shabby.

And for the record, Von is playing well. He may not be what he was 10 years ago, but who is?

Literally watch the tape and analysis.

We're saving him for the playoffs.
