Draconator Posted September 26 Posted September 26 I'm watching the final night game, and will be watching the very last game tomorrow. This should not be the final games in Oakland. NBC California is doing a very good job of reliving past glory of the A's in Oakland. They had a nice spot for Dallas Braden, current A's color analyst who threw a perfect game in Oakland in 2010. They had Rickey Henderson on for a full inning earlier. Rickey is still Rickey. I will always regret not making it back to Oakland for one more game since I moved back to Buffalo in 2013. Sigh 2 Quote

Really sad that MLB let it come down to this, Manfred is a idiot. 1 1 Quote
Draconator Posted September 26 Author Posted September 26 The grounds crew is filling empty water bottles with dirt from the warning track for fans. Players and fans are still hanging around. 1 Quote

That's No Moon Posted September 26 Posted September 26 All of this is shameful. The A's should stay where they belong. In Philadelphia. 2 Quote

Sacramento sounds nice though and the small stadium won’t have a bad seat. 2 hours ago, Mike in Horseheads said: I'll be watching tomorrow to see if they destroy the place. Saxum Posted September 26 Posted September 26 A's fans remove Oakland Coliseum seats, attempt to carry them out of stadium before team leaves for good https://www.cbssports.com/mlb/news/as-fans-remove-oakland-coliseum-seats-attempt-to-carry-them-out-of-stadium-before-team-leaves-for-good/ Quote the A's confirmed that the video was real, and those fans were stopped before they left the Coliseum. The seats were also returned to their original location. Probably designed by someone out of a job now. Quote

With all that rust on the seats, probably just had to keep shaking them till they broke off. Quote

RkFast Posted September 26 Posted September 26 (edited) You can keep your Ohtani. For my money, the "greatest offensive player" in the modern age is Rickey Henderson when he was on the A's (and Yankees too). Yes, Ohtani has a ton of steals...but NOBODY created absolute HAVOC for a defense and pitcher like Rickey did when he was on base. Get off my lawn. Edited September 26 by RkFast 1 1 Quote
US Egg Posted September 26 Posted September 26 Watching the pre-game, and as the game settles in, it does sort of hit you. Kinda like the Bills moving talk of not so long ago. 1 Quote

Kinda like the Bills moving talk of not so long ago. Was watching a game the other day from Oakland. Loved the old school banging of the drums and the horns and most of all the QUIET. Contrast to my CitiField which resembles Carlito Brigante's disco on most nights, with the noise and the flashing lights CONSTANTLY. Edited September 26 by RkFast 1 1 Quote
Draconator Posted September 26 Author Posted September 26 A's finish with a win. 3-2. Major League Baseball in Oakland is no more Quote
Another Fan Posted September 26 Posted September 26 That's really terrible. A's even if they've struggled in the last 20 or so years have a strong history as a ball club. Gotta feel for people in Oakland: first the Raiders and now this. 2 Quote
thenorthremembers Posted September 26 Posted September 26 Really sad. For a sport that lives on the history of the sport, they messed this one up royally. 1 2 Quote
Mike in Horseheads Posted September 26 Posted September 26 A lot less eventful than I thought it would be as far a rowdy crowd. I guess most of the peeps just wanted to be there to watch the last game and say good by. 1 Quote

But I would be landing in Oakland around the 5th inning. So I stayed home. I just needed to say goodbye. 55 minutes ago, Another Fan said: That's really terrible. Although it's a short drive across the Bay Bridge, don't forget the Warriors moving from Oakland to San Francisco. 1 Quote
