Royale with Cheese
I think the way he's playing, we're looking at towards the higher ends of CB's contracts. He is in year 3 so I think we could see something before next season if he continues. Spencer Brown signed his extension right before his 4th year. Benford has been good since his rookie year and is just getting better. @GunnerBill....what are your thoughts? Andrew Son
You have to pay him. Not only has he been amazing, but he encompasses everything this regime values. Late round pick, underdog, emerging from a very tough background... Just an incredible find. 6 5

Augie
Beane has proven that he knows well it’s cheaper if you do it sooner. The player is eager to get a big pay day so settles a bit, while the market is only going to go up. It’s how Beane usually rolls.
mushypeaches
It's an absolute given that he gets a new contract this off-season This is EXACTLY the kind of player that you should give a second contract to And if it's top of market based on performance, then you deal with it

Could we see it this season?
HappyDays
I'm not sure he'll be quite as expensive as people think because he is still purely a zone corner IMO. Teams don't value that as much. But he's a perfect fit for our defense so I would absolutely pay him a market value long term extension as soon as the season ends. I heard today he has a 14.6 passer rating on throws against his coverage this year. As a point of reference, Nate Peterman's passer rating in that one game (you know the one) was 17.9. 3
Pine Barrens Mafia
he's worth an extension. just don't go Tre White on him, and we're ok.
KingBoots8
Pay him and Shakir fair deals. If they want huge deals to play with losers I would wish them well on the Jags or Giants.

JP51
Define massive lol... oh wait dont... serious I do think we need to think about extending him. He needs to be year 3 I believe so I think we can at this point.
MJS
He is going to make $20 million a year. And he deserves it. Over the cap estimates right now his value to be $17.7 million per year. That number is only going to go up if he keeps playing like this: https://overthecap.com/player/christian-benford/10230 Edited September 25 by MJS 1 3
Brand J
CB used to be part of the “big 4” highest paid positions (QB, LT, DE, CB) now it’s the big 5, but luckily CB1 money isn’t nearly as debilitating as WR1 money. The top paid WR makes $35M/yr. The highest paid CB makes, what? $22M/yr? Benford is a definite re-sign.
Virgil
I agree that Benford has been amazing. But I wonder if this is a position we ever plan to pay. I think we are seeing a shift in our cap distribution. I would love to see him locked up for years to come

Rubes
Would be really nice. I've read that CB and Douglas have become close friends. It would be great if we could somehow keep both, but I doubt we have the cap space.
