It is problematic to make presumptive decisions on this team after three games.  AZ is in a rebuild development mode, but looks promising.  The Fish’s defense is suspect, and the Jags look like a train wreck. With that said, I’m moved by how well we’ve performed through 3 weeks.

Im very hopeful for a win over the Ravens, and beyond.  Once we start facing really tough teams, it will demonstrate our metal.

Go Bills!

We already know how Josh can carve up the intermediate to deep parts of the field when the opportunity is there. I don't expect him to forsake that by any means. But if we can get Josh processing like Burrow did at LSU, and he starts shredding teams underneath, he's basically gonna be unstoppable.

I think it could be addition by subtraction. Josh will no longer have to deal with someone feeling they should get the ball on every play, and all of the dramatics behind the scenes. Now he can just go play ball again. No one is saying Diggs isn't talented, it's just going to be a better vibe without all of the nonsense imo. Josh will spread the ball around. People will make plays in the receiving corps. Josh will still put up big numbers and be in the MVP convo.

I think that the Diggs move is addition by subtraction. His diva mentality and sideshow antics being gone will breathe new life into everyone else on the offense. That being said, it remains to be seen whether our WR group can get it done in his stead. I'm not going into the overall WR discussion again because I've already made my thoughts known. Hopefully Knox can get back on track and clean up the drops. Hopefully Kincaid takes a big step forward. Hopefully this forces Josh to rely on his checkdown options at RB more in Cook, Davis, and Johnson. Brady LIVED off of taking what the defense gave him for 20 years. Can Shakir turn into our "Amon-Ra Lite" with a heavier workload? Josh could have his best season ever if he takes what the defense gives him at all times. If he insists on forcing the ball downfield then he could run into turnover problems and give all of the bobbleheads more reason to say it was Diggs who made him. Hopefully we see the full maturation of JA17 this season and consistently takes what the defense gives him. If he does, then he will be pretty much unstoppable and it will be his best ever.

So far Josh has been taking what the defense gives him. He has been killing them underneath. He has also hit the other throws most times when they are there to be made. With Diggs gone, the entire vibe around this team is different. We have no one for defenses to key on because Josh is spreading the ball around to everyone. Any doubts I had about this team as a whole from the OL, to the Safeties, to our WR group have all proved me to be wrong. This is the Josh I was talking about, the Josh I hoped to see, and he is looking like what I said he would be if these things came to fruition. Unstoppable.

I figured we'd be run heavy, less passing, and similar numbers to last season under brady, which i was personally pretty good with.

what has surprised me is the lack of turnovers and how solid the OL has been.  I think they still struggle to pick up certain stunts and blitzes, but for the most part they just create a wall of mountain men who open holes and keep allen clean.

a solid oline and RB/TE production is how you play football on easy mode.  i feel like our O has been, since 2020, super dynamic but kind of a circus act where everything they do requires allen to be super man and spectacular plays to happen.  being able to beat people up and get easy yards is a luxury i welcome.

We heard a whole lot of this during the offseason:

”How can they trade away Diggs and not bring in a true #1?”

”We have a bottom-three WR room in the NFL!”

”McGovern can’t switch to C; he hasn’t played there since college!”

”Brady can’t design an NFL offense that doesn’t rely upon Josh being Superman every game!”

”McDermott doesn’t understand modern NFL football.”

So after three weeks and 112 points, and two 2nd halves spent just running out the clock, is it still “too soon” to say that perhaps Beane and McDermott know what they are doing?

you're right--only been 8 years.  too soon

Au contraire, mon frere.  The sentiment was along the lines of “they’ll be ok because of Josh, but he will have to be Superman each week for us to have a chance and that isn’t sustainable.”

We’re three weeks in and only really two quarters (out of twelve) where Josh had to “take over” and do Josh things.  Monday night he was barely touched.

That doesn’t fit the definition of “struggling” for me.  Degradation, yes, but this O should never struggle with Josh at the helm.
