Yes, he is genuinely asking for more government money for something he believes in and that would help his investment. But when it comes to feeding poor, hungry kids... ***** em.

From the article:

"Prevacus' founder, Jacob VanLandingham, pleaded guilty to wire fraud in July, admitting that he used Mississippi welfare money to pay off gambling and other debts.

Favre spoke about his involvement in a sprawling Mississippi welfare case. At least $77 million in TANF funds, earmarked for poor families, were diverted to the rich and powerful, according to a 2019 Mississippi state audit."

To be clear, those are two separate things. Two separate incidents that Favre has been a part of that stole and misused government funding for personal gain of the rich.

Well, he did sound genuine in asking for more money.

May learn some class.

Favre has no class. I don’t want him to have Parkinson’s but he defrauded welfare in a really poor state. Also, Favre revealing that in a testimony was 100% an attempt to garner sympathy.

Other than OJ, has any other all time great done more to ruin their legacy than Favre?

I mean there is an entire database of NFL arrests since 2000 and its 55 pages long.    We literally just cheered for one of those guys last night.    Only difference between he and Favre is Von's girl took the hush money.

Not going to defend Favre but let he who is without sin cast the first stone.

Perhaps it was.  Maybe the comments are warranted then.

…..and how many pages of non arrested incidents, improprieties and unsavory indiscretions?

Stone throwers often look the other way on their own.

Actual text messages from the MS TANF scandal revealed through discovery:

1) Brett Favre to Nancy New who would delegated the TANF fund dispersements: "If you were to pay me is there any way the media can find out who it came from and how much?"

https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/37565299/brett-favre-mississippi-welfare-case-line-explained

2) Favre to Prevacus CEO Jacob VanLandingham: "Nancy said he isn't our type."

Prevacus CEO Jacob VanLandingham replies: "F---! Well we may need the governor to make him our type."

https://mississippitoday.org/2022/04/04/phil-bryant-brett-favre-welfare-scandal-payout/

3) Prevacus CEO VanLandingham to MS Governor Phil Bryant: "Yes, I got subpoenaed and just gave them everything."

MS Governor Phil Bryant replies: "Not good..."

https://www.mississippifreepress.org/bryant-texts-favre-partner-sought-trumps-help-funding-drug-company-named-in-tanf-scandal/

The only reason Favre couldn't invest in that company is because he couldn't get free federal money from the state of MS laundered through bogus non-profits like what Nancy New ran. Favre still hasn't fully paid everything back and he knew what he was doing, as indicated in the first text messages about the media not finding out. What is Favre's type as indicated in the 2nd cited texts? And why did former MS governor Phil Bryant say complying with law enforcement was "Not good"?

Because without the "good ole boys" centuries of corruption in the south, those "good ole boys" wouldn't have any wealth at all.

Lol.

I should have realized that when I cheered at the sack on Sunday that I am basically the same as Brett Favre purposefully stealing millions of from the neediest people in my community and cheating with his wife while she had cancer.

My bad. I’ll STFU now.

Favre is such an enigma to me—loved his play on the field (that game against the Raiders right after he lost his dad was a scriptwriter’s dream), but off-field he’s been a whirling dervish of controversy and poor decisions…suing McAfee being right up there imho. But to hear he has Parkinson’s is something I’d never wish on anyone, regardless of their life choices.

Great find 👍, very entertaining story. I’ll note that as the saying goes, the only dumb question is the question not asked! 🤓

This is what sucks when you hear about some players off the field lives.

Brett Farve was my favorite non-Bill.  I loved the way he played.

But after his affair when his wife was battling cancer and his fraud....I started really disliking him.

I still hate it for him but if it was any other player, I would have more sympathy.

  1. You say you're not defending Favre but in the next breath you judge Von Miller.
  2. "Do not judge, or you too will be judged."

Where did I judge Von?  Outside of the conjecture of saying he paid off his lady to drop the charges against him I merely stated the fact he was on an arrest list.

My point in saying any of it was to outline the fact that these guys aren't all heroes, they are fallible humans.  My main point is its incredibly easy to sit behind a computer or phone and call someone a scumbag when the world doesn't know all your sins.

Getting way obtuse.   The point is Von, whether the NFL suspends him or not, was involved in a domestic abuse situation.   You don't get to pick and choose morality.

https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/41417497/favre-announces-parkinson-diagnosis-congressional-hearing

Hall of Fame quarterback Brett Favre announced during a congressional hearing on Tuesday that he was recently diagnosed with Parkinson's disease, a degenerative nervous system disorder that causes parts of the brain to deteriorate and affects movement.

Speaking before the House Ways and Means committee, Favre spoke about Prevacus, a company making a concussion drug that received $2 million of Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) funds. Favre was the top investor in Prevacus and text messages show he began asking state officials for help securing funds for the company in November 2018.

"Sadly, I also lost an investment in a company that I believed was developing a breakthrough concussion drug I thought would help others," Favre said during opening remarks. "And I'm sure you'll understand why it's too late for me, because I've recently been diagnosed with Parkinson's. This is also a cause dear to my heart."

As ***** as a person Favre turned out to be , he was still a joy to watch in my childhood and his style is very similar to Allen.
