Enough cannot be said about our coaching staff and their ability to wring talent out of DB’s.

We currently have 2 UB walk-ons who are getting their names called in a positive way on a week to week basis in Ingram and Lewis.

Christian Benford, a physically limited late round pick out of VILLANOVA, has a case for one of the best CB’s in football this season (and he has been tackling like a truck.)

Taylor Rapp and Damar Hamlin have their warts as players, but they have not been exposed as they arguably should have been (it’s early).

Most importantly, this team is FLYING to the football. In the first Q last night, when the game was still a game, I don’t think the Jags had a single pass attempt where there wasn’t a Bills player within a yard or two ready to make a break up or a tackle.

McDermott deserves his flowers for having these dudes ready to play. The sky is the limit once our impact players return.

And we’re playing backups at both linebacker spots and is Spector calling the defense?

What McD and his staff manages to do every year is impressive.

And this has been without our two All Pro defenders, Milano and Johnson.

The announcer said it last night. This is one of the best defensive systems in football. A true 'plug and play' approach that has been successful and seemingly getting stronger as it progresses.

Benford was the opposite of that.  You don't draft a limited athlete from a small school.  He was a traits guy from a lower level school.  His RAS was over 8 so he wasn’t limited as an athlete.  Either way he walked in as starter which is crazy coming from a small

school when they drafted Cb in rd 1.

His ability to consistently make spare parts work well on defense is evidence that the majority of resources in regards to free agency and high draft picks need to go to offense for the remainder of Allen's career.

I think one of the things this team and defense do very effectively is communicate.  And yes they have a bunch of no-name guys playing considerable snaps at the moment.  I mentioned on another thread, but the fact remains that a lot of these guys have been here for a while learning this defense inside and out.

I'd argue pass rushers and defensive line should be pretty high on the list.  If you want to beat mahomes you're going to need to pressure him.

We've already allocated a ton of resources to the d-line, and it hasn't made a difference in the playoffs against KC. It didnt make a difference against Brady either when we tried that same strategy. Just try to outscore them.

It's his scheme.

As long as McDermott can get pressure with sending 4 primarily, he has the scheme in place to shut down offenses. Players are pretty "plug and play" with what they do.

There's a long history of him being able to take backups and castoffs and then being the best version of themselves here. No Hyde? No Poyer? No Milano? No problem.

We didnt have the right players.  A dominant D-line is how the Giants beat Brady in 2 SBs.

Benford is his new Josh Norman.

💯 He’s playing at an all pro level.  Might not get the cred due to playing mostly Zone (which most corners do now), but he’s an absolute stud and might be our best defensive player.  Just love watching him tackle.  Very Winfield-like in that way.  But bigger

Sean McDermott is one of the best Defensive minds in football.

He just needs to figure out how to translate that regular season success, and shut-down top QBs in the playoffs.

Ingram, Hamlin and Lewis are all great examples.  2 udas and a late rd pick. All have played great.  I think the lack of Johnson, Milano and Benard has allowed the defense to become more multiple. You are not taking those 3 off the field.  Lewis and Ingram offer more in spots than Milano or Benard.  Down for down they are

missed .  In spots I think Buffalo is more unpredictable right now.

Cam Lewis and Ingram were undrafted free agents with the bills

They were not Walk-Ons at the University at Buffalo.. they were scholarship players

Babich deserves some flowers as well. We heard all off-season that this guys is smart and a great teacher. The defense is humming while down a starting LB corps, and our all-pro slot corner.

Man what a phenomenal job and in the future will make DBs want to come here, the pass rush has also been dominant,  which obviously helps but ya we have a ton of riches at S and CB !!
