*Disclaimer: I moved to Jacksonville (Jax) in ‘96 and have always considered the city unworthy of an NFL franchise. Original owner Wayne Weaver shocked and swooned the League by offering 5 straight guaranteed years of sellouts (meaning 50% of full house gate receipt$$ for visiting teams regardless of actual paid attendance) and ‘Dark Horsed’ their way into the League in ‘95. This resulted in local Bills fans being screwed out of countless opportunities to watch our team as the Jags got all the AFC games locally, while embarrassing this city with under 20k fans in the stands for nearly 2 decades. With tarps covering thousands of seats for so many years, they finally started playing multiple home games overseas every year, just to try to break even. Now they’re building a new stadium, but I hold out hope they still become the Liverpool Beetles.. 🪲 🪲

Dammit! These ‘Jagoffs’ have our number!🤬 We needed a last second FG in ‘96 just to beat them in their inaugural season 🤦‍♂️ and they’ve been thorn in our side every year since! We’re 0-2 in the playoffs against them, while humiliating us far too often. We’re 9-10 overall vs them -including playoffs, and it took a couple miracle wins by us just to keep it this close!

Our last 2 games with them have been complete debacles! Yet, by most accounts, they’re pretenders once again this season. Bumbling to an 0-2 start, they do feature a ferocious Dline which promises to be a real test for our fine OL. Currently though, they’ve lost 7 straight games since last season while scoring only 8 TDs. In recent years, their Josh Allen has outplayed our Josh Allen and that has to change as well! They’re desperate for a win, but consecutive Conference wins is OUR early game motivation and ‘J.P.’ Allen has been simply perfect so far. Our injury-plagued Defense presents and opportunity for them to get off the ‘shnide’ with their effective short passing game, but it’s been ‘Pretty Boy’ Trevor Lawrence’ inability to strike deep that has the Jaguars in a quagmire.

On the other hand, WE  have a ferocious Dline against the pass as well and a remarkable quantity of quality DBs we’ve barely scratched the surface of to date. It’s the middle of the D that’s been decimated by injury, yet our backups have so far shown they pay attention and can play within our philosophy. Offensively, nobody -friend nor foe- can figure us out yet. We’ve scored 30+ points in both games. RB James Cook (AFCPlayer of the Week!) has been electrifying. ‘JP’ Allen is playing with the poise of Montana, the arm of Marino and escapability of Tarkenton (HoFers all!). Our TEs have caught virtually every pass thrown their way while Khalil Shakir is quietly making noise with great hands and off the charts athleticism. We’ve already shown we can completely dominate a game with ZERO errors OR come roaring back from behind with heroics. But we still aren’t sure about the rest of our WRs & RBs. We ‘think’ we love our coordinators as we’ve seen so much change from previous years that seems overwhelmingly positive, especially so since Tyler Bass missed a chip shot and Stefon Diggs dropped a sure touchdown back in January..🤦‍♂️

Final note: 1 penalty in a road game? One??  ONE?!? 😳😲 I’m older than the team and don’t recall ever having only 1 penalty called against us. Amazing!

So, tonight the ‘Backwardsville Quagmires’ play a rare game in Primetime where our Bills are showcased routinely in recent years. At home on a crisp Autumn night in front of the best Fanbase in sports, in a loud, sold out stadium and an entire global audience where we shine with ‘JP’ Allen, fireworks and an insane Mafia clad in Red, White & Blue who -by then- will be thoroughly inebriated for over a dozen hours!

I certainly wouldn’t want to be playing in a ‘desperate to win’ game in this environment!

GO BILLS!

Anyone else feel like this game will be too close for comfort, only for Gabe Davis to drop a potential game winner?

Yes, and 🤣
