gonzo1105
The Bills will be getting younger in the next year or two. Some guys are on their last legs esp as starters.

Everybody else is in their 20's. 🙂 Pretty awesome. It will look even better in the coming years with the added draft picks. Too old at 30something makes me feel old and I'm only a few years away from being back there.

Matt_In_NH
2 hours ago, eball said: Disclaimer: Von Miller doesn't count as a starter. After being one of the older starting rosters in the league a year ago, this speaks to how well Beane is transitioning this team for the future while still keeping them a legitimate competitor for the Lombardi. KC has done it also -- which sucks. Miami, meanwhile, has a starting roster older than dirt. We're lucky to have Big Baller Beane pulling the strings. Sometimes one player can skew things a lot.....I dont put a lot of stake in these things, the Bills were high last year and now they are low, lots of changes but they still have 17 and a well coached defense (at least for reg season). Nephilim17
Note that the OP got this from a Buff News article, so they are responsible for the analysis about 6th youngest starting age. https://buffalonews.com/sports/professional/nfl/bills/buffalo-bills-sixth-youngest-starting-lineup-nfl-rosters/article_36633e22-7450-11ef-895f-c72fe8a8adbf.html "The Bills’ starting lineup ranks as the sixth youngest in the league, based on opening day rosters, according to an analysis by The Buffalo News. Last season, the Bills fielded the 11th-oldest starting lineup. Rookie wide receiver Keon Coleman, seen walking off the field Sept. 8 after Buffalo’s season-opening win over Arizona, is the youngest Bills player at just 21. Joshua Bessex, Buffalo News It’s no surprise, given the Bills shed five over-30 starters – receiver Stefon Diggs, center Mitch Morse, defensive end Leonard Floyd and safeties Micah Hyde and Jordan Poyer – after last season. Cornerback Tre’Davious White, who turns 30 in January, was also let go. The average age of the Bills’ starters is 26.48 years, youngest in the AFC East and under the league average of 27.21 years. Overall, the Bills’ roster still is on the older side of the league, ranking 11th oldest, with an average age of 26.86, according to News figures. At the start of the 2023 season, the Bills had the fourth-oldest 53-man roster in the league." Edited September 18 by Nephilim17 1

I don't think the point of the OP was to declare guys like Dorian Williams and Cam Lewis as upgrades, was it @eball? The Bills are not a "young" team in any regard(starting or in total) when they are healthy. It's a veteran team, which is fine. Yeah I understood that. I am not sure either of Bookies or @eball are good sources just pointing out that where there is any statistically supportive evidence is with the roster as a whole, which is NOT young. Eebs started a "data" thread without any actual data. Could be fake news or could be significantly skewed by other factors........like current injuries........but who knows because he didn't provide any data.😂 Playing your typical word games when you get trapped. The Bills have three starters on D 30 or older (Douglas, Jones, Milano) when healthy. The O has one (Dawkins). ST have two (Martin, Ferguson) but I don't think the age of your long snapper or punter are particularly relevant to the discussion. So 4 out of 22 are 30 or older. That's the point of the thread. They have some veteran depth and rotational players but the core of the team is not old because they jettisoned at least five guys who skewed the starting roster VERY old (Morse, Diggs, Poyer, Hyde, Tre). The 29-year-olds on the roster are MVS, Smoot, and Morrow -- not a starter among them. Tell us again how they are not a "young" team in any regard? MJS
I always feel like this stat means little to nothing. The difference between the oldest teams and the youngest teams is so minimal. 2 2

Ethan in Cleveland
If Milano and Miller were starters game 1 my guess is they would be much lower on the list. Not that any of this matters. Being younger doesn't mean better. If you want to be negative thinking about it, how in the hell are the Bills in cap hell with the 6th youngest roster? Oh yeah highest dead cap in NFL history. Oh yeah highest dead cap in NFL history. The Bills are not in cap hell. They took a one year calculated hit to get Diggs off the team and move on from others. Next year they'll have a 4M dead cap hit for Tre White but nothing else over 162K (currently). And where the age on a team is concentrated does indeed matter -- perhaps not for the current season, but when looking ahead.
