I don't know why teams do this but the Bills are far from the only ones. Only tell you what the league mandates.

They do it for a very good and very simple reason: opposing teams target wounded players. The NFL is a rough business.

If he sits out until Baltimore that gives him almost 3 weeks to heal up and a full month if he’s out until Houston.

I still wouldn't be surprised if he misses 4 or more weeks. IIRC, Buffalo has done this from time to time. Not IR a guy immediately who could be in it. They only get a certain number of times they can bring someone back from IR..just may not want to use one of them here.

It's 8 though I think. They'd have no issue using one of those on Taron.

Thought it was lower still. And a player can only can be brought back twice? So being so early in the season I can see them slow playing it.
