R. Rich
I have the Athlon and Lindy's guides. Good stuff. There's still a couple more I'll pick up down the road. Anyone else get these mags yet, or any others?
CBusBillsFan
I have the Sporting News College Football Preview, it has a lot of really neat stuff. If you want to know what magazine has the most accurate predictions go here: http://preseason.stassen.com/prediction-ac...y/2004-5yr.html
R. Rich
It figures that Phil Steele's would be up there. I bought it for the first time last year, and it is by far the best preview mag on the market. It cost a bit more (approximately $9 compared to the normal $6-$8 or so for the others), but it is worth it. So far, I have Athlon, Lindy's, and Steele's. I'm going to get the Street and Smith's and possibly Sporting News also.
JinVA
None as yet Rich but that will change this weekend. I usually pick up one college and one NFL mag every Fourth of July weekend. Makes for great beach reading material.
CBusBillsFan
I've always wondered if the Steele mag was worth the extra price. I will have to pick it up now. The only thing I have heard is that he uses shorthand that is uncommon and makes it difficult to read.
R. Rich
It's not that difficult to read, actually, and it is worth the extra buck or two they charge.
CBusBillsFan
Thanks for the help, I will definitely pick one up this year.
Tux of Borg
I bought the Sporting News College Football Preview. They list both the 1st and 2nd string players in there. They also put asterisks next to returning starters. I like the fact I can look at Notre Dame's defense, and see that they only have 3 returning starters. Kind of gives you a feel of a teams strengths and weaknesses.

Will cut out the coupon in the back and send in for the free NFL preview guide, sent in August. What a great read.
R. Rich
It sure is, Mark. As I mentioned before, last year was my first getting Steele's mag, but it certainly won't be the last. It's a must have for college football junkies like myself. Actually, I now have 9 mags for both college and pro: Athlon college Athlon pro PFW Street & Smith's pro Lindy's college Lindy's pro Steele's college Sporting News college Sporting News pro Although I haven't received it yet, I did send away for the free Steele's pro guide (I didn't do this last year; wish I had). I still want to pick up the Street & Smith's college guide also.
CBusBillsFan
Personally, I wasn't impressed by Athlon this year. It doesn't have anything about non top 25 teams and other than the conference that you choose. For about the same price I can get every team in Steele's mag that I finally picked up this year. Lindy's is pretty good; other than Steele's, it's the one I like the most. What did you think of Steele's?
CBusBillsFan
Steele's was great! Packed with info, and the shorthand is bad at all. It has two pages on EVERY D-IA team. Not for the casual fan, but if you are a die-hard college football fan it really is the premier magazine.
