We’ll see how the season plays out. They should go if the roster looks weak outside of Josh, and we lose in the Divisional Round again. I am not giving McD a lifetime pass for going 9-7 in 2017 or Beane for picking Josh. We see how Josh plays; he isn’t going to play into his late 30s, so we need to win now. I’m hoping we win the Super Bowl and everyone keeps their job.

Consistency in ownership, GM and HC is an ideal to build a longstanding winning  NFL team.  Fortunately the Pegulas have more patience than the fan base.   Beane/McD are and shouldn't go anywhere unless this a teams turns into a disaster.  This year is a reset year after fixing the salary cap.

That and three people completely whiffing on what should have been a tackle.

Gilliam, Davis, and Elam.

Davis is a new rookie, use that excuse, Elam and Gilliam, honestly there are no excuses, now both veterans.  If they cant tackle shouldn't be on special teams.

No excuse for Davis' pitiful attempt at a soft shoulder check instead of going in for a real tackle, other than bad coaching.

Like I've said elsewhere, we are an undisciplined, poorly-coached team that happens to have a Josh Allen.

Special teams cost us the Jets and Broncos games last year. Now nearly the Cards game. They’ve been consistently bad under Smiley. He needs to go. I imagine change during the season would be super tough though. Should’ve fired him at the end of the season last year

Tell us your qualifications to make that recommendation.  Were you even a waterboy on  a women football team?

Typical BS comment. I’ve coached soccer and hold national licenses. I also played lacrosse in college. You?  I know poor coaching when I see it. Lots of excuses for him here. Bottom line is our special teams have given up big plays consistently since he took over. We used to to have the best STs in the league. Why settle for mediocre ones because of poor coaching?

Special Teams had another hiccup with the KO return Sunday.

It seems to me this does happen to the Bills more often than it should.

I get the feeling that at times the ST try to get a little cute in their play calling and it does bite them in the a$$ too often.

I'd like them just to play the safer odds and avoid the negative plays.

Hell yes it is. His job to make sure they do know how. Excuses, excuses for Smiley.

No, his job is to put them in a place to succeed. The players have to execute.

When a bunch of guys are making the same mistake, that is coaching.

I find it hard to believe that no coaches have talked to these players on how to tackle.

It's a fundamental part of football and these guys have been doing it since peewee.

Players have to take the brunt of the responsibility on errors like this.

But who put them in this salary cap situation without a Super Bowl appearance to begin with? Consistency in underachieving isn’t great.

It's an issue on Special Teams and one that has plagued our defense for years. These players all learned technique since high school and made it all the way through college ball. Yes, they know how to tackle. But they arent. There is something being missed by the coaches. And at the very least it is on the coaches to fix, whether through different motivation or punishment.

yeah, I have to agree with this.  Lets be realistic.

Franchise went "all in" with the Von Miller and other free agents, no one was whining about that when it happened but when it fails, head must roll.  To wih a championship a la the Rams from a few years ago, it was worth the shot.  Frankly if we get out of this with only one

"bad" year, that is a masterful job of GM/HC or lucky.

I think it’s a failure in leadership.

That falls on the only coach who’s been here for the entire Allen era, IMO.

Then go back to hiring and firing the HC and GM every three years if you dont get a Lombardi..  Let Buffalo slip back into a disaster of a franchise no one want to play for unless they are overpaid (Marrio Willaims) or are drafted here.

I agree, and I said he should have been fired the next day after 13 seconds.  But unfortunately Terry likes him so we are stuck.
