Von Miller proves the doubters wrong

Recommended Posts

Anyone who said von "had some good pass rushes" is just grasping at straws. The guy looks cooked. You'd think after sitting out for so many weeks he'd have a fire lit under him... but nope.

The guy is literally out of excuses. One of the worst bills signings of all time.

He’s looked cooked for a while, but to be fair, give him 2-3 weeks to get in to game shape.

I don’t think it will make any difference, but always hoping.

Bills defense is better without Von.  He doesn't defend the run.

Bullspit.

He made multiple strong plays against the run yesterday.

In fact he was more effective creating problems for RB's than he was for Qbs because of what Miami was running.

He did nothing to slow down their run game. Tua was getting the ball out too fast, so there was no pass rush. Miller didn’t have a good game. He might have a better game against Indy.

I wouldn't have said it if it wasn't true.

Sorry you didn't see them.

Putting Von on final Hail Mary makes no sense even in his prime.  It is not fitting to his skill set.

I am sure some will point as reason why Coach McD should be replaced.

Now I’m utterly confused! Isn’t his skill set rushing the passer? First we’re told Tua was getting the ball out too quickly and now we’re told a Hail Mary, which is the SLOWEST developing pass play in the history of modern football is also not his skill set …..geeez!

Oh I thought you meant defending the throw since with 2 rushers are unlikely to get QB.

I agree with many of your posts, but honestly expected more out of Von yesterday and I hold no personal grudges against the man.

He was AWOL and there were plenty of throws where Tua had to go to his second or third read and we got no heat on him. Not just Von, I expected more out of our DEs in general generating some heat or just getting their hands up in throwing lanes to the flats and tipping a few of the flurry of short passes QBs have been able to make against us.

Needs fixing across the line and IMO Von has not nearly earned any of that big paycheck OBD cut him.

I'm glad you acknowledge that some of your frustration comes from the defense as a whole. Again, I view the game as just a superb performance by the Dolphins, their QB, and their Head Coach/playcaller. That group has put up big numbers over the years and the fact that we've generally dominated them doesn't mean it'll happen each time. I give credit to the opponent. Playing like that Miami was gonna rack up yards and points against anyone.

I’m not defending it.  I’m pointing out that yesterday’s snap count may not be relevant to that point.

Yes. Von played 21 of 60 snaps. It looked to me like most of his snaps came in the 4th quarter.

This is what I saw also.

In his 21 snaps Von was not doing the Epenesa thing (AJs actually gotten better about this) of immediately losing contain on plays. Von was setting the edge and holding the point for run plays before then focusing on the QB. On the run plays he kept the runner inside. On his pass rushes only once did he lose QB contain and on that play he was hunting Tua from behind but couldn't catch up to him before the throw. This is what I saw. With only a few exceptions, Tua continued his pattern of getting the ball out quickly.

I don't understand the rush to judgement from the many Von haters here. He has 3 sacks in 114 snaps. Not all of those 114 snaps were pass plays. His pressure and sack rate are very good for how much he's played.

I don't understand why people feel the need to pass final judgement on players halfway through a season where the important work is still in front of us and where his sample size has yielded good results.

Von was in on the final play. He made a pretty good rush at Tua. Starts around 13:30 here.

Well thank goodness! As I said, I didn't know if he was. Can't open the video so I'll take your word for it. I know Groot made the final tackle, so he was definitely in and contributing.

On that last play from scrimmage, Rousseau showed what a physical freak he is... closing out Jaylen Waddle.

Ha!  So, I guess it actually is in his skill set after all?  Good to know. 😉

And a high pass rush win rate.  He’s played well this year.  He’s not an all pro anymore but, off field problems aside,  I have no issues with him

now.

I neither love or hate him. My comment is that his Contract was a terrible signing for the production that the Bills have gotten for it. I truly hope that is the last time the organization pens another similar deal. They rarely work. Build your team through the draft around a franchise QB and Offensive Line and fill holes as they come up with mid-scale veterans.
