Von had very consistent pressure all game long. You just choose to not see it with the mob mentality that goes on here I saw negative plays. He had some good rushes, no finish. But to me since returning he’s looked a step slower. I defended him previously. Quote

He can still get out of his stance fast, but what made him special was at the top of the bend he could explode again towards the Quarterback. He'd get to the top of his bend and then hit 5th gear in his dip inside. That is what is not there anymore. Which is why he can still get pressure when he is on his game but can't finish like he used to. He showed that bend and acceleration on the pass rush arc on the sack vs the jaguars.... That was a prime Von sack He's being paced because we need that for the playoffs. 1 hour ago, RiotAct said: This is one decision that Beane would definitely like to have back, so to speak. That will be decided in the playoffs. Vintage Von spin move Quote

I know ppl don't want to hear that Playoff Von will be going all out and I anticipate his snap count will be in the 60% range. In the div RDS and especially in the AFC championship/ super bowl it will get close to 75% Edited Tuesday at 04:11 PM by Kelly to Allen 2 Quote

He needs 2 in the final 2 games to even get to that pretty low bar. You won't be getting many victory laps. EDIT: and I am completely objective on it. See the thread @Savage started questioning his game Sunday. I defended Von. He played well v New England. I'd say one of his 3 best games of the year with Miami road and Indy. I am just a truth teller on this topic rather than someone clinging to a narrative. Is 6 sacks what we agreed on? I didn't realize we agreed on any metric, I was referring to your "5 percent chance..." comment. I'm sure you remember that one. And also, he may have 4 sacks, but how many pressures does he have? I can think of several occasions he didn't get a sack but he either forced an incompletion or caused a sack for one of his teammates. I listen to a LOT of different football podcasts (Bills and non-Bills... he was one of the studs for Joe Marinothis week in his All-22 review) and repeatedly they talk about pressures being more indicative of the pass rushers. And then there's what he's been doing in the run game. Quote

I suppose it depends how you value the contibution of 4 sacks and 5 tackles for loss. And sure, he has had some pressures too - and in some games he has looked decent. But there have been a lot more where he has been quiet as hell. Quote

Von has been exponentially better than you said he'd be in the offseason when you essentially said he was a replacement level player. As for pressures, according to PFF right now he has 30 pressures in 262 snaps. That's the 50th most pressures in the 105th most snaps. https://www.pff.com/nfl/players/von-miller/6154 Much more of a player than you thought he'd be. And if he does end up with 2 sacks in the final 2 weeks he would have met whatever criteria you were referring to while missing 4 games. 1 Quote
SoonerBillsFan Posted yesterday at 01:17 AM Posted yesterday at 01:17 AM The original post aged badly lol. He needs to go this next offseason. Quote
H2o Posted yesterday at 01:24 AM Posted yesterday at 01:24 AM Von is not the player he once was. Neither are most players at 35. Hopefully, he can get a key pressure or get to the QB at the most necessary of moments in the Playoffs. That's what we brought him here for in the first place. 1 Quote

Pro football reference lists him as having 14 pressures.... https://www.pff.com/nfl/players/von-millei guessr/6154#seasonStatsWidget Player profiler has him as having 21 pressures.... https://www.playerprofiler.com/nfl/von-miller/ Plus I think it would be better if they'd give the sack numbers/pressures /etc... as a percentage of % per play instead of per game. Cause von pretty much is sees the field only on 3rd down and passing plays. No matter which numbers you use, his numbers look bad based on how much he is paid Edited yesterday at 02:16 AM by TurfToeJam Quote

Brianmoorman4jesus Posted yesterday at 02:52 PM Posted yesterday at 02:52 PM (edited) I don’t think we use him right. I think a better DC would find ways to get more out of him. The guy is a first ballot HOFer and still very quick off the snap. I’d use him say more as a LB. I’d have him out there with 4 down linemen, not as a down lineman. Line him up at SLB bring him on constant blitzes standing while another DE can take on the block directly. Move him around let him blitz from a standing up position from all over the field. Make the offense find him and decide wether they want to adjust protection towards him or 50. I think we have a guy that can be a weapon and we are just wasting him. We have good players on this defense the coaching is horrendous Edited yesterday at 02:53 PM by Brianmoorman4jesus Quote
