RoyBatty is alive Posted September 9 Posted September 9 Up until the game yesterday, I was adamantly against the new kickoff rules. I thought the "landing zone" was contrived and severely limits if not eliminates any onside kick. Watching the new kickoff was dreadfully boring/confusing during pre-season, but yesterday changed my mind. Kickoffs are still exciting. Granted we probably had the two longest returns to date under the new system but now if is a play I will watch and not assume it will be kicked out of the end zone. Too many NFL kickers are just too good and consistent getting touch backs. The returns and coverage will continue top evolve all year. I thought the pickup of Brandon Codington was bizarre but his one return was electric and he has already been justified imo. So we can partially eliminate the whining about McD/Beane getting players that are good on special teams. I will actually watch kickoffs more closely now. It will be interesting to see how many long returns or TDs we get in the NFL this year. 1 Quote
PetermansRedemption Posted September 9 Posted September 9 I agree with this. I thought the NFL was going towards eliminating the kickoff. But the new rules actually make it more exciting IMO. I saw more illegal kickoff penalties yesterday than I did the entirety of last season. 1 Quote
ExiledInIllinois Posted September 9 Posted September 9 Highmark isn't made for them. It's a wind tunnel. + Onsides should be a 4th & 15 play from the 30. 1 Quote
Mike in Horseheads Posted September 9 Posted September 9 @RoyBatty is alive I agree it sure made every KO in the Bills game a adventure. Why is this on OTW, its main board stuff? 1 Quote

HansLanda Posted September 9 Posted September 9 I think this will be a one-year experiment - it just so happens the bills had the first time with 'legal' 12 men on the field and a TD returned. make a banner. Quote

Thanks. No problem, already done. But you might consider asking them if they have time to do some typing for you as well. 2 Quote
Lost Posted September 9 Posted September 9 They need to move touchbacks out to the 35, then I'm good with it. Needs to be more of a challenge for the kicker and more incentive not to just kick through the endzone. 1 Quote
Steptide Posted September 9 Posted September 9 I've said it before and I'll say it again, the nfl stole this idea from me 😅. Many moons ago on the old bbmb, I posted this exact idea when the kick offs were getting talked about alot, and here we are Quote
