WGR pontificated that the Cardinals purposefully caused that penalty. It’s an interesting thought. It benefits them to allow the first down with less time off the clock.

I 100 percent think they did it on purpose and it was a very smart move on their part. Conceded the 1st down, but on 2nd and 1 that's the correct play to save a possible 40 seconds from burning off the clock .

The correct move in that situation would've been for the Bills to decline the penalty on that situation. At that point in the game the ability to burn and additional 45 seconds on 2nd and 1 is more valuable than 1st and 10.  Perhaps something for McDermott and staff to learn from.......perhaps they can relook the analytics on kicking the fg of death to go up 6 too, while theyre at it

McD knows about analytics, but apparently does not alway use their recommendation.

I really thought in the moment they should decline that. They had 2nd and a short 1. A simple hand off burns 40 more seconds of clock. The five yards at that point wasn't all that helpful.

Your thoughts?

it was intentionally done to reset the 1st down and stopping in the clock.

1st at 3:52 ..3 snaps that  are runs takes it to 2 min warning and 4 th down. You have all time outs.

2 nd and 1 at 352…buffalo snaps and runs a play … play is 7 seconds+ 40 second clock thr 1st down snap is at around 3:10. Thrn 3 more plays takes them to rd down at 2 min warning forcing AZ to use a time out after the 2.  Buffalo coukd have intentional run a no gain at 2nd and 1 forcing them to call time outs then go for the 1st
