They subtly lost a lot on the defensive side of the ball (1st and 3rd level mostly) that no one wanted to talk about, and of course had who they have at QB. Tyrod Taylor could have better galvanized that team to be in the hunt, in my opinion. He would have been able to utilize Mike Williams without alienating him, and the running game would have been more effective with him bootlegging and running the RPOs. 5 Quote

The issue with the Jets is coaching. The collection of talent is actually good even factoring in that Rodgers is at best a mid-level QB at this point in his career. But the Jets entered the season with a head coach who was not prepared to manage Rodgers and work around the defense having a little less talent. The head coach also didn't have a quality OC in place either. The talent was there for the team to at least push past 8 wins if they just had mid-level or better coaching and organizational infrastructure. Quote

Someone was opining that when you have a late-career great QB like Peyton Manning or Aaron Rodgers, they are really the OC and the OC's job is to figure out what they like and install that. Where that goes off the rails is if the QB has really lost a few steps to where they can no longer execute their own offense, and that's what's happened with Rodgers. In Denver with Manning, it worked because Kubiak actually knows something and could come up with something that worked and talk Manning into it. I could be mistaken, but I don't think Nathaniel Hackett is a good football coach. While the assignment was "do what Rodgers wants" he was fine, but when it changed to "figure out something that will work and then get Rodgers to buy into it", he lost the flick. 1 2 Quote

They now face a fight to keep Garret Wilson with the team because of Rodgers' behaviour. They had a group of talented younger guys who totally bought into their Head Coach, for good or bad, and wanted leadership and guidance from a vet QB. Instead they brought in an ego centric arsehole who is only interested in undermining every one around him to prop himself up. Even last night when he missed Yeboah on one of those early drives he is doing all the hand signals to make it clear for the cameras "that's not on me, these guys run the wrong routes." I'm not a bit pro wrestling guy but remember when Vince brought back the nWo and the story was he was intentionally injecting poison into his own company? Well that ridiculous pre wrestling storyline is literally what the Jets did two years ago trading for Rodgers. Here are the positives going forward. The Jets have: Sauce Gardner Quinen Williams Will McDonald Jermaine Johnson (if he can come back healthy) Alijah Vera Tucker Garret Wilson (if they can persuade him to stay) Ola Fashanu (that kid is a hit) That is still one of the better collections of age 27 and under talent in the entire league. If they can get the toxic posion out in the shape of #8, get the right GM and Head Coach there is talent there to start from. But the entire culture needs remaking because of the damage Aaron Rodgers has done. Any team considering bringing him in for 2025 (he still wants to play and prove he isn't the problem) be warned. He is a franchise wrecker. 3 1 Quote

He is a franchise wrecker. 100%. The whole organization is a problem but Rodgers is a magnifying glass on those problems when he should be, given his talent, the opposite of that. It’s Aaron then everybody else in his mind. Im sure you have seen, but if not, the Graziano appearance on a panel show condemning Rodgers and his actions going to the extent of labeling him as a “con-artist”. You’ve also got a slew of ex players being vocal against hits character and him as a leader that needs the stability a multiple MVP and SuperBowl winning QB should be bringing. 2 minutes ago, Dr.Sack said: Jets owner is the problem. Stepping down would certainly help but getting rid of Aaron and finding the right coach would just as much. 1 Quote

It’s great for us, and I suspect Kraft is also meddling in the Pats dysfunction. This is great for the Bills. 2 Quote

Like or dislike Saleh he was a leader and had that defense playing, didn't have the QB for the team though. Bringing in Rogers is a problem because everything we'd heard about him being a cancer in GreenBay was apparently true....which no ***** why do you think they were trading him. You can't have a QB come in and try and run the team like he's the coach while your still trying to form the team it's a cluster*****. Edited December 30, 2024 by Warcodered Quote

That's what the huddle/sidelines/dressing room/meeting rooms are for. As for your talent assessment of the Jets, not a fan of Quincy Williams? Quote

He isn't in that elite or potentially elite category the others are in. He is a decent starting linebacker. 1 Quote
Doc Brown Posted December 30, 2024 Posted December 30, 2024 I don't know what the salary cap implications are but the first thing I'd do after the season is cut Rodgers, Adams, Lazard, and fire every member of the coaching staff. This will hopefully signal to potential head coaching candidates and GM's they aren't interested in short term fixes anymore. You need a GM and head coach that can convince the young talent they do have (Wilson, Sauce, Johnson, McDonald, Quincy, Hall, Reed, etc.) they're committed to building a sustainable winning culture. Give Mike Vrabel a blank check to be the head coach because that's the type of personality they need right now. Then go out and sign a well liked bridge quarterback (Tyrod Taylor would actually be perfect) and draft a QB of the future. Teams can turn around quick with the right GM, head coach, and young quarterback. Look at Washington this year. Look at the Texans the year before. Or they can run it back and we can continue laughing at the absolute disaster that the organization is right now. 2 hours ago, HurlyBurly51 said: Somewhere Robert Saleh be like.... True. For Bills fans let's just hope that Woody Johnson isn't appointed as an ambassador any time soon. Quote
