But what exactly would be the point of switching out a 40 year old QB for 35 year old QB? They arent making the playoffs, they are barely playing for pride. Just play out the string and hope for a few highlight plays to put in the hype video for next season A few reasons. First off, the Jets will be trying to evaluate players for next year. Right now, I don't think Rodgers is a viable enough QB to do that with. Second, from a competitive standpoint, Rodgers is a sitting duck back behind a horrible line. Taylor has a bit more elusiveness. From a financial standpoint, why pay Rodgers more money for hitting contract incentives by playing half hearted football? Fans a media like the "Play out the string" theory. For players, they are auditioning for a new coach/GM in New Jersey or another team around the league. They want to play well and win and get good snaps on tape. 1 Quote

Mat68 Posted December 2 Posted December 2 Jets get to eat dead cap. Draft a rookie qb but lose the benefit of getting a qb on a rookie deal by still paying Rodgers qb money and Adams wr 1 money. They need alot more than a Qb. Im running the Jets. I trade Sauce for a first plus. Likely wont resign anyways. Build the oline and dlines. Build around the run game and defense. That job is as difficult as there is. A lunatic owner with unreal expectations. Cap and assets used on old players likely not on the roster nor wanted. Quote

He’s been flat-out bad this year. 2 Quote

Also, they dont have a top 3 pick and there arent many (any?) blue chip QBs coming out this year. It is a very 2013-type draft. 1 Quote

Coaches, Gms with options will avoid. Like maybe Greg Roman as Hc draft Milroe and go all in with that style. No real traditional path for success imo. 1 Quote

If he was a FA would he sign a mega deal? I think so. I think he is one of their assets with value. Maybe Garrett Wilson too. I think you keep one trade the other. Quote

Although the 5th year option could help get them up to a 2nd and maybe some later round picks thrown in. 1 Quote

Drew21PA Posted December 2 Posted December 2 I mean If Wilson goes from the jets - I mean - please? Don’t like playing him 2x a year Quote

BigAl2526 Posted December 4 Posted December 4 This is one of my favorite threads ever. I only wish the OP would come back and eat the crow he so richly deserves. It really is in the Hall of Shame for dumbest posts ever. Quote
