How have your fantasy drafts gone?

I play in two leagues.  The first is a 10 team keeper league (2 players but you forfeit a draft pick) with IDP.  The 2nd is a 12 team half PPR league.   

 

So far I'm pretty happy with both drafts.  

 

Team 1: ( I drafted 10th as defending champ - Keepers Williams & Purdy)  - 3 Bills, 3 Dawgs, 1 Falcon

QB - Allen, Purdy

RB - Eitenne, K Williams, Stevenson, Edwards and Dowdle 

WR - Olave, De Smith, Pickens, Watson & Shakir

TE - Musgrove, Njoku

K - Koo

DL - Parsons (LB), 

LB - Bernard, Q Walker

DB - J Love

 

Team 2: (I drafted 4th) - Sadly no Bills, but 3 Dawgs, 2 Falcons

QB - Stroud, Purdy

RB - Bij Robinson, Etienne, Z White, Benson & Dobbins

WR - Collins, Pickens, Dell, Watson & McConkey

TE - Bowers

K - Koo

D - Chicago

 

On both teams Purdy, Etienne, Pickens, Watson, and Koo.  In the second draft, I kept getting scooped on the Bills players I was trying to get.  I was also trying to avoid getting to many players with the same bye weeks.  I screwed up in the 2nd draft because Robinson and Etienne have the same bye week, but not until week 12.

Thoughts:

 

1) Josh went 4th overall (to a Bills fan) 2) I really wanted Saquon Barkley but had to settle for Garrett Wilson 2 picks later. 3) I was hoping for Mahomes in round 3 but settled for Etienne 4 picks later. 4) Baltimore D was taken in the 3rd round. 5) Was pleased to get Kenneth Walker in round 4 (I took him over Mixon though). 6) Was pleased to get DJ Moore in round 5. 7) I took Dalton Kincaid over Kyle Pitts who went 1 round later.I ended up taking 3 Bears, Caleb, DJ, and Swift. That wasn’t necessarily the plan though I don’t mind either. 9) I despise Butker but glad he was there in the 10th. Overall pleased with my draft.

I think Walker is a very strong breakout candidate.  Wilson and Hill are great players, but I hate drafting Jets and Fish.  If it's close between a player from the Jets or Miami, I'll draft someone else. Kincaid and Shakir are going to be great bargains.

I've been playing fantasy since the 90's but have never done a keeper league so I'll just comment on your half ppr league.

QB - A (great one two punch)

RB - B (Love Robinson and Etienne.  Not sure what to think of Z. White but an okay pick.  Don't love Benson behind a running QB and an established RB in Connor.  Also, no RB coming off a torn Achilles has ever been fantasy relevant the following season so the Dobbins pick was a wasted opportunity.

WR - C+ (I like the stacking with Stroud but taking two Texans limits both in terms of total weekly team points.  Pickens is a great pick.  I'm not crazy about Green Bay or Chargers WR's this year.

TE- B (It would be an A if they didn't draft Meyer in the top of the 2nd last year and Bowers had a better QB).

D/K - IDGAF

I agree on Dobbins, but like Benson, Watson and McConkey.  That said, they are depth options.   My hope is Watson emerges as Love’s no 1 option and McConkey for Herbert.  They are lottery tickets that if one hits it could help win the league. 
 

As to Dell and Collins, Dell fell in our league to where he was too big a bargain to not draft him.  Given my draft he’ll be on the bench most weeks as White is my flex player.

Yeah, Kmet gets completely overlooked. I don't think people realize he was a top 10 TE last year. I have him as my backup TE.

And he gets a major upgrade at Quarterback. I suppose the counter point is last year only he and DJ Moore were weapons, now he has Odunze and Allen to compete for targets but Allen has definitely lost a step and has had issues staying healthy, Moore doesn't get a lot of redzone targets (although I think will remain the #1 guy elsewhere on the field) and so Kmet's ceiling really depends on the impact of Odunze I think.

13.9 WR J Reed -current #1 in GB over Watson. Hoping for a breakout.

16.0 RB T Etienne -2nd rnd. wanted ky Williams. Below value pick. (C McCaffrey 23.8)

15.9 RB J Jacobs -3rd rnd. Run on WRs, decided on RB value. (B Hall 19.0 in 2nd place.)

10.0 TE D Shultz -13th rnd scrap heap.. Weakest pick. waited 1 rnd too long in the 7th. (SL Porta 16.1)

 

14.0 D Buffalo -complete homer pick. probably lose out on 3pts per game... (Cin 17.7)

9.5 K Y Koo- who cares really. (J Tucker 10.2)

 

13.3 Df B Okereke -best available.  (F Oluokun 16.1)

11.4 DL M Crosby-was #1 fantasy DL last year. (D Hunter 12.0)

12.3 LB Q Williams- Chose him over Bernard because of constant injuries...

12.0 DB J Bates- was #2 fantasy DB last year. (B Branch 14.1).

 

17.4 BN RB A Kamara -swaps out with Etienne/Jacobs weekly. All 3 about the same projected points. a steal in the 5th

12.6 BN RB T Spears -mostly for KR/PR. League awards 1pt for every 25yds on special teams.

11.6 BN WR K Shakir -Hoping to beat out Reed/Godwin as my breakout. K Coleman was taken earlier.

12.7 BN WR R Shaheed- Also for KR/PR experiment.

7.6 BN QB/TE Tysm Hill... Just for giggles. 18th rnd. Cut candidate for injuries/byes

 

I'm interested to see how the kickoff pnts will work. Going by preseason, that's an easy 3-5pnts added to their base. Basically a point for every kickoff return.

 

Because of the 3 WR requirement, there was a run on them early. Waited too long and got the middling scraps.

Yeah, Kmet gets completely overlooked. I don't think people realize he was a top 10 TE last year. I have him as my backup TE.

 

I'm curious what round Kelce went. Also, is it the standard QB RB RB WR WR TE format or are those the starters?

I had to choose between Godwin and Ridley, and like you, I'm hoping Shakir will overtake them both.

 

I was afraid of Lamb getting lazy after his contract or starting slow because of the holdout. Glad I picked late to avoid deciding on him and Jamar Chase.

I avoided Chicago players precisely because of the wealth of targets. The same with Houston. While that maybe a mistake on my part, I tend to favor "only option" type players for volume. That's why i'm banking on Shakir getting 100+ targets.

Where would you guys draft J Chase if you had a draft right now?  I am picking 9th in a 12 team league tonight and I think I will pass if he is there at 9 (for hopefully someone like AJ Brown), but might take him if still there at 16.  It is a hard situation to read as I think there is a decent chance the Bengals don’t give him the new contract right now.

I would take him after AJ Brown, and G Wilson, but at 9 I would also consider a RB like J Taylor, S Barkley, or Ky Williams.  Of course, you can also just choose Chase and hope he helps in the playoffs when it really counts.

I took Kelce in round 5, pick 44 (I was picking 4th overall). I took Josh Allen in the 3rd round. I was determined to get him this year. I picked up Shakir in round 11, in case that is interesting.

 

It is a default NFL.com league, which is QB, RB×2, WR×2, TE, W/R, K, DEF. NFL.com switched to PPR being default a couple of years ago, so it is PPR.

I'm the only Bills fan, but no way am I going below 3rd rnd for any QB.

I was honestly surprised Kelce was still there in the 5th. I usually pick him up in round 2 because he is usually such a great fantasy TE, but I wasn't really thinking of him this year until I saw he was still there in the 5th. I think that is great value even if he is getting older and maybe not producing like in his prime. He was still elite in 2023.

12 man keeper league (keepers were Murray, Robinson, LaPorta, Wilson) and I drafted 9th in each round. 

 

No Kickers, No Defense, No IDP because all of these are stupid.

That's true, but sometimes the auto pick drafts turn out pretty dang good, lol. In my work league last year our CEO auto drafted and he ended with one of the best regular season records. He would have done better if he paid more attention late in the season.
