Miller behind AJE

I seem to recall the Bills saying that Miller would play on obvious passing downs.

When we drafted Pran-Granger, some thought he'd start this year.  He's currently third string.

Ty Johnson is still ahead of Ray Davis on the depth chart.

Did I really predict 11 wins?  We have one star player on offense and none on defense - not what a playoff roster is supposed to look like.  But this isn't astronomy so who needs stars?  I'm sticking with 11 wins.

There's what the depth chart says and there's what happens when the Bills substitute.

They’ll win at least 12.

I like the roster but what a tough schedule.

Probably because he’ll start out more Alf a 3rd down pass rush specialist and then go from there.  I’m in agreement with many on Hamlin as he’s always a step behind.

Mack Hollins. Starting WR.

I think we’re done here.

Yeah that pretty much says it all. Scrub vet over rookie, the McD way.
Hamlin starting too. Lmao. You think he would of learned after Nate Peterman

Damar Hamlin starting?  This Secondary is in trouble.

Weren’t they ranked #2 overall in 2022 when he started 13 games?  He wasn’t perfect but I don’t remember worrying that Hamlin was a liability.

I agree I dont see VM as an every down guy to start. Maybe his level of play dictates that but not to start.

Miller is going to be a 3rd and long specialist.

100% agree and I think to start that makes sense... it may just be who his is... The DH of the pass rush.

It was hard to complain about Damar because the guy they put in before him was so ***** bad.

Outside of Allen this is among the worst rosters in the league.

Disagree with this entirely.

On Paper:

-Top 10 OL

-Upper 1/3 RB room

-Top 5 TE room

-Bottom 1/3 WR room

-Middle of the Pack DL

-Middle of the Pack LBs

-Top 10 CB room

-Bottom 1/3 Safety room

That's not "among the worst rosters in the league"

It is, however, a team lacking star power/game changers outside of Josh Allen.

It seems to me that a lot of people who are down on this team, simply view the answers to every question we have as "no".

Will the WR room elevate with JA?  Will Shakir and Kincaid make a jump?   Will Von and/or Rousseau provide DE pass rush?  Will Milano's replacement be ok?  Will our Safeties give us adequate play?

If you think the answer to all those questions is no, well then.. I guess I can see how some come to the conclusions heading into this season that they have.

People don't actually think like this do they?

A starting Depth Chart means nothing.  Its just a thing teams do because they have to.

The bills wr and secondary will be mixed and matched in different formations and situations.

A depth chart means nothing and it is fascinating seeing who takes this so seriously like its a little league lineup on opening day that wont change.

It's crazy every year with some of these people.

OMG Worthy and Odunze are listed as 2nd string WRs!

Snap count is a much more important.

I find all this hand ringing about the defense a little amusing.  The Bills are bringing back 8 of 11 starters and have upgraded the depth on the D line.  Last season with Milano played only the first 5 games, while played only the 1st 4 games, D Jones missing games 6-15, Miller played sparingly in 12 games and he admitted he wasn’t healthy, Poyer and Hyde missed some games and played injured much of the season, the Bills finished 9th in total yards, 7th in passing yards, 4th in sacks, 4th in Ints, and most importantly 4th in scoring defense.  Their worst stat was 15th against the run, the Beane brought back DaQuan Jones and Epenesa (who is now a starter), brought in Austin Johnson and Smoot and drafted Carter to help improve the rush defense.

Rapp was as effective last season as Poyer and Hyde in his 4 starts.  Benford and Bernard should take another step forward in year 2 as starters.  The biggest open questions are how will Williams do replacing Milano and how will Hamlin/Edwards do replacing Hyde?  Truthfully I’m not all that worried about Williams.  Look at the strides Benford and Benard made in their 2nd years on the team (and first as starters).  Williams got a fair amount of PT last year including 2 starts and looked like he learned from his mistakes in camp this year.  As to Edwards and Hamlin, this is the only spot I don’t have good confidence in, but I have confidence in McD’s ability to get the most out of his DBs.

All in all, we should have another top 10 defense this year.

sweet.  one elite player on the team.  horrible roster for JA in his prime years.

Elite:  Allen, Taron

Very Good, could be Elite this season:   Dawkins, Oliver, Rousseau, Bernard

Elite Playmaker:  Rasul

What about Cook, Shakir and Kincaid?  If all 3 hit 1000 yards and Cook adds another 400-500 receiving won’t they also be added to at least the VG column?

With the number of quality safeties available in free agency this year, and the fact that we took one in round two, I'll be honest, I am in shock that we are going into the season with Rapp and Hamlin as our starting duo.

Let's hope the coaching staff outsmarts the fanbase!   On paper it's troubling

I think you may be experiencing some memory lapses my friend. Hamlin was awful pre near-death-experience game. Truly terrible. He was a problem and caused many of the issues we had on defense.

Pretty obvious that Hamlin shy's away from contact
