This is one thing I would like to see changed in Joe Brady offense.  They need to mix this stuff up more.  Yes, there is something to be said about dictating to a defense what you are going to do and still be successful at it. There is also something to be said about keeping a defense guessing and on their heels.

It has been a constant issue. The Bills have consistently tried to develop a zone run game out of shotgun. But it's really ***** difficult to do. It is what cause Peyton Manning and Gary Kubiak to fall out. Manning wanted to be in the gun and didnt like passing from under center, Kubiak's run game was predicated on being under. It has made us a bit more predictable in that sense. The good news is our success rate running against heavy boxes is still well above average. But does bear watching.

That's actually pretty impressive because even when the defense knows it's a run, the Bills are still among the best in the league at it.

It is but its not going to work against everyone. As time goes on, teams will figure out how to stop it. We will run into teams that are better against the run as well. IMO its never good to be predictable.

I think the predictability thing is over stated. That Cook TD on 4th an 3 was a perfect example.

Definitely the question that still needs answering is how can the offense perform generally in a close, high scoring shootout type game.

perhaps the question is : How to avoid a high scoring shootout game ?

let me say this

Bills might want to appear predictable as long as possible. Till it doesn't work as well. Then you toss the salad a bit.

As long as This O line is doing well in both categories ? I have few worries moving forward

I personally think the offense has been much less predictable since Brady took over. It wasn't just Cook that started getting more reps it was Shakir and Kincaid too. The problem before was that it was predominantly the Allen to Diggs show. As good as it was, defenses were double and tripling Diggs. I think as the season goes on we'll see more shots being taken downfield and more skill position players getting involved. Kincaid has seen very little action so far. Coleman was pretty active in the 1st game but not in the second. We're seeing running backs making catches more than we've seen since McCoy. This Jags team has given up a lot of passing plays so far this year and I'm thinking a 300+ yard game is coming. However it plays out, we're certainly seeing an effort to get more people involved in the offense.

People have been complaining about WRs not catching as many passes, but many of those passes are going to RBs and TEs. Josh is still throwing the ball. There's no chance in hell that's ever going to stop, well at least until his arm falls off. Wouldn't be surprised if an OLman catches a pass sometime😄

Post the win-loss under both, could care less about these #s

They're both 0.500 in the playoffs

Bills blew leads against Jets, Pats, and Broncos while he was OC

Wasn't he fired the day after the Special Teams had 12 men on the field against Denver?

The only stat that I think makes a difference is Allen INTs are way down under Brady

I mean they kind of did that in the AZ game down 14 with 2 min left in the half and would go on to score 31 points in 31 minutes after that.  Still just one game, but the offense turned it on and never looked back.  And even before that was moving the ball easily but only had 2 drives thanks to a fumble and some false starts giving way to multiple long scoring drives by AZ that ate up all the time.

But I keep saying week 5 for me is the true sniff test.  Won't be a make or break game, but it will be the first true test as the Texans got the guys up front to disrupt this offense and they will have 4 weeks of film on the Bills offense for their defensive minded HC to prepare for.

13 seconds wasn’t a high scoring game really until the very end basically. It was very similar to last year’s playoff game until in the 13 seconds game they started throwing haymakers.

It's because zone run out of shotgun is too simplistic especially when it's all on the line

It's a high school or college call that you use when you know you could just physically beat the other team up front for a couple yards

In the NFL where there's so many big strong grown men it's just a JV call that should only be used a few times a game

Bring the play action out when it's really needed.

I will say this. In the past, the Bills seem to hold back a portion of their playbook against teams they know they are just better than in my opinion. I’m not saying Brady is even doing that  per se but in week 2 after Tua went out they shut it down hard on what they were going to put on tape.

Didn't specify playoffs, I believe both only had 1 post season as OC..

Ya you're right about the Den game I believe,  but Brady finished 8-3 including playoffs , I think.. Would make him 10-3 as oc, Dorsey just wasn't the answer,  pretty brutal play calling

Interesting,  maybe the left hand plays a part? I mean considering Mia was a blowout, wouldn't be surprised if they intentionally went vanilla

I don't really think that was a shootout. The Bills got the double dip and the Cardinals basically couldn't move the ball after that. The kick return touchdown made the game seem closer than it was. I mean a game where they come out 2nd half knowing they basically have to score every possession because the defense is gonna have a tough job getting stops. I agree Houston is where we might see that test come.

Look at Allen's efficiency metrics under Brady...

Literally off the chart in terms of EPA when disrupted. Allen is a unicorn but Brady isn't forcing him to pull out his "do something only Josh Allen can do" card two or three times a drive anymore...he is only asking him to do it a few times a game and it's leading to a lot better offensive flow and a lot smoother looking offense.

Bills still move the ball at will, they just don't rely on Allen making crazy plays to do it as much.

Yeah, that team is going places. Really talented and Stroud is making a name for himself too.
