This makes no sense.

Not everyone is like you or (no offense intended) @Tiberius: people who are extremely partisan.

I think all the recent Venezuelan single male entrants should have been detained by ICE as the law authorizes (or even mandates; it's debatable). So yes, fair to say that Biden/Harris are a cause of the issues in Aurora.

But "takeover" and all that is silly and doesn't fit the facts on the ground.

I agree and the term "takeover" is clearly a subjective assessment. But much of the contention here is over exactly what are the facts on the ground rather than whether or not the problem exists or doesn't exist.

From my perspective there is another bigger problem. Venezuelan gangs, let into the country through lax or non-existent vetting standards and procedures are operating inside the US and the government through various officials and agencies at Federal, State, and local levels don't appear to have any sense of urgency or desire to apprehend and remove them. So what's their problem? That's it for me. I say this for comic relief but if these gang members had participated in J6 they would have all been quite eagerly rounded up already by the administration.

Go ask some of those poor people in those apartments if they agree with your moral line in the sand.

Bill said Americans aren't having enough babies to keep up the population. That's justification to import people. But the candidates of his party's number one issue is running on a pledge to defend abortion "rights". Which is counterintuitive to the need for more children. Add in promises to raise the child tax credit. But for who? Foreigners? Because Americans aren't having children and therefore don't qualify for the tax credit. If more abortions is their goal shouldn't they be offering a tax credit not to have children? Very confusing.

And there you have it.

From last month:

1. Its not happening,  shut up racists!

To just yesterday having a very reliable ABC reporter tell us:

2. It's happening, but it's rare.

So Roundy, Quack and Tib-stain tell us please, is Martha Raddatz a gullible anti-immigrant deplorable or nah?

Maybe they believe they weren’t wrong, they were just a different version of correct?   Correctly being wrong has to have a place at the table!

I think what Frankish is trying to say is that while gangs may be present in large(r) numbers than decent law abiding citizens might prefer, on some level people probably respect the effort that goes into assimilating into a blood-thirsty gang in a land where you do not speak the language.  This is the kind of work that many American kids simply won’t do.

That was Biden speaking right?  What a mess.

I'm not sure whether to say thanks or whether to start a flame war with @leh-nerd skin-erd. Let me think about it.

Some of you have quite correctly called me a know-it-all. But you'll just have to trust me that there are a very few things I actually do know a lot about, and our immigration mess is one of them. I encourage folks to take some time to read this article, which (1) sets out a factual summary that fits with what I've seen hundreds of times; (2) points out that it is true that forces on both sides (yeah, the old "both sides") really haven't committed to ending illegal immigration. It could be done, but it can't be done at the border.

First, I don’t think you’re a know-it-all at all, I think you’re an intelligent guy and a good poster on many subjects.   I think you’ve had some bad takes, too, and some seemed a bit out of character for you based on your posting history.

Second, “flame war” just sounds odd to me.   Very Nathan Lane, and while a great actor, a little over the top for me.

Third-I’ll read what you shared and now’s a good time to acknowledge (again) that there are precious few heroes in the political class when it comes to illegal immigration.  The pain, suffering, death, victimization, cartel enablement etc is a national disgrace on both sides of the border.

That’s a shared problem and imo, one of the reasons a guy like John McCain should burn in the firey pit next to a guy like Ted Kennedy.

The problem can be addressed, of course, but with power and money comes corruption and this is the result.

well, that term is a blast from the past.

And yes, please do read the article. Don't worry about the author's political stance. The facts strike me as true. I'll be glad to explain how the system works, and how the system fails if you have questions. It's all right there in the example the author uses of one repeat illegal entrant from Honduras.

Aurora, CO Property Management Firm Sets Record Straight:

Venezuelan Gangs Took Over, Gov't Did Nothing

by Ward Clark

The property management firm managing several buildings in Aurora, Colorado, that have been taken over by members of the Venezuelan Tren de Aragua gang, is speaking out. The company has taken to X to provide a full description of how the buildings were invaded and taken over by the illegal alien gangsters, how the tenants fled, how people were threatened and assaulted, and how the local government reacted. It all starts here.

The thread starts with a powerful affirmation of what we already knew, and what some in government and the legacy media have tried to downplay: Gangs have taken control of entire apartment buildings.

maybe this is dumb, but why not call the cops if you’re the building owners? Also, why wasn’t a police report filed when their employee was attacked?

It depends if you are a state like Colorado, or a state like Texas.

A dangerous Venezuelan gang has taken over at least four apartment complexes in San Antonio, Texas, as it expands its reach in yet another America city.

Dubbed the ‘epitome of evil’, Tren de Aragua (TdA) is known to run drug smuggling, child prostitution and human trafficking rings in South America, with its members crossing over into the US in recent years amid a wave of Venezuelan migrants.

The tattooed mobsters have since unleashed a wave of crime across the country from Miami and Texas to Denver and New York.

The gang’s activities in the American cities are back in the spotlight after ABC News’ Martha Raddatz claimed the instances of gang members’ presence in apartments was limited to a ‘handful’ of complexes in Aurora, Colorado.

Just last week a small army of police officers raided an apartment complex in San Antonio and arrested 19 individuals – including four gang members.

Law enforcement sources confirmed TdA had been operating at the Palatia Apartments for five to six months – squatting in empty units they either rented out to other migrants, used as a base to deal cocaine or, most horrifically, as prostitution dens to pimp out women and children.

But now DailyMail.com can reveal that this apartment invasion is just the tip of the iceberg in the major southern Texas city, with at least three other rental properties also occupied by the criminal organization.

So the dude got violently assaulted at and his job and hospitalized but there’s no police report? You don’t think that sounds just a bit weird?

if you’re hospitalized and you tell

them the reason is because you were assaulted, an officer will be in your room fairly quickly.

Just seems slightly sus.

Has anyone checked in on MS13 or the caravans lately?

I kind of prefer this new gang tbh, the name is much catchier…epitome of evil…just rolls off the tongue, kudos to them.
