For what it’s worth, I think this is the worst Bills defense that we have had since 2020. 2 2 2 Quote

That could be true but it’s still way ahead of what I expected losing two starting safeties and without Milano up until this point Quote

They are 10th in points per drive, 18th in yards per drive, 21st in plays per drive and 23rd in time per drive. They are above average at best. That’s still above average, but the worst since 2020 in basically every category. And yes, a lot of that has to do with guys like Williams and Hamlin starting, no doubt. 27 minutes ago, colin said: it might be, the talent level is lower particularly with injuries. as i said before, what counts is the playoffs. if we can be OK in the playoffs vs the better teams, it will be our best playoff performance on D in the current era and gives us a really solid chance to win. I think the best thing we have going for us is that Babich is kind of a wild X factor. This D still has McD fingerprints but new DC means maybe we roll out some wrinkles KC or Baltimore isn’t prepared for. There’s reason for hope. I think our best chance to beat a team like KC in the postseason that has had our number historically is a coaching/strategic change that they may not expect. 2 Quote

I’m happy with everything and like BB as a good young coach but I did think it’s hilarious how things are viewed sometimes. Frazier and his top 3 defensive teams - soft, bum, 🤮 Babich and his 15th ranked defense - tough, future head coach, 😍 1 Quote

Yea that’s fair…if Milano gets back up to 80-90% down the stretch I think it could make a big difference but guess we’ll see. Dorian is progressing well but he still seems to get picked on nothing will be as bad as that playoff defense against kc with aj klein taking all the MLB snaps lol Edited November 29 by Generic_Bills_Fan 1 Quote

I still think Frazier got scapegoated. And that’s the thing with the playoffs. You play better teams with better qbs. The Bills (and it’s a good thing) have feasted on terrible qbs. Also, Milano is hurt most years, Tre white, and a lot of aging talent too. imo, defensive talent is the easiest to replace because it’s all about going young, hungry, aggressive players. 1 Quote

If babich’s defense gets roasted in the playoffs too people will sour on him also Quote

Sweats Posted November 29 Posted November 29 Love em or hate em (you see what i did there?).........but McD and Babich have this D playing with intensity, grit and passion. I mean sure, i'd love to have a top tier D that annihilates everyone, but these guys are playing tough as limited talent and i can't fault them for that. For the most part, they are going out every week and leaving it all on the field. I, as much as anyone gets pissed off that they are giving up too many yards or big plays, but they are finding ways to keep us in games. All facets seem to be clicking at the right time and i feel fairly confident that our D will step up when needed to keep our post season push alive. Quote

Not saying he can’t coach or gets no credit but that affects the view. Is there a player currently on the 2024 Bills defense that will have an All-Pro nod in the next 2 seasons? Outside of TJ who has already missed significant time. I think getting JAGs like Cam Lewis and Ingram to be net positives on the roster is weighed like turning Micah Hyde, a a good player, into an All-Pro tbh. All that being said, there’s only so much blood you can get from that stone. Turning guys like Cam Lewis into an All-Pro is not a coaching issue. It’s a talent issue. And that’s why this defense, imo, is weaker than it has been. Quote

That’s 2 1st round picks and a guy we gave up decent draft capital for. also, Poyer wasn’t regarded high when we brought him in. Quote

He was one of the best DCs in football while he was here and the numbers back that up. 1 Quote
